The normal way of loosing weight is to reduce the caloric intake (eat less and healthier) and exercise. This is the best way to do it.
Here are some tips that I could think of:
Avoid junk food
Avoid sweats
Avoid sodas - Cola, Fanta, Sprice type
Cut down on fat foods
Do not eat late at night
Cut down on beer and all king of alcoholic beverages.
Cut down on salt
Cut down on pastas
Do not eat white bread
No french frizes
Those are some things that came into my mind. I know is hard to cut down on everything and I do not think that I will ever manage not to eat pizza or tiramisu or a cold Bud on a hot day of summer but I will surely try to eat more healthier and moderate.
