hello tangerine and welcome to the challenge...
when it comes to the artificial sweetners splenda is the best it is made from sugar and actually sweetens my ice tea perfect .. and i am pretty sure that honey is a good natural sweetner as well . yeah most of those artificial ones are not great for you but u have to use ALOT over a LONG period of time to have any affects or what ever .. ive never head it being bad to start a diet exercise program while on your period .. although i guess u would be more tired and achy and want to eat more chocolate lol .. hope i answered a couple of your questions for ya .. good luck and talk to ya soon

Thank you for the welcome, and helping with some of my questions.

I think one of my biggest problems is the ole " I'll start tomorrow" lie I tell myself. I get it all worked out in my head, and plan it all out , and then tomorrow turns into never. And here I am 25 pounds heavier. I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEE sweets. Thats my hugest hurdle. I have major cravings for it. Whether its cokes, cakes, or candy. The big FAT C's lol.

I took my "before" pics, and I am hoping to have some great "after" pics by Oct. Thanks for the support, I am sure I will be a regular poster here and will probably need alot more. Smile

Its great that you've taken before pictures. You will be so proud of yourself in a short period.

You know that you can try low calorie sweets. Search for recipes you can make yourself. There are even stores that are selling them.

Good luck.

well things are not going well for me ... i am still trying to get motivated but i cant .. I'm scared that it is gonna take me ending up in the hospital for diabetes etc to get me motivated and i don't want that to happen.. i am drinking pop again and i kept track the other day and realized i drink about a six pack a day sometimes less. I watched a video the other day from a wedding i attended and i saw my self. omg i thought i was going to die i could not believe that was me i used to be sexy i used to turn heads i used to be able to wear short clothes and look good in them .. i need to lose this weight and i so badly wanted to lose 50 by my birthday in October and i think i have only lost about 5 lbs but since I'm back drinking pop i probably put it back on .. i still have 3 and a half months to lose weight i know i f i put my mind to it i can lose it and keep it off.. i'm scared i don't wanna die and i don't wanna be fat anymore but why cant i get motivated to do this .. on paper i make it sound so easy ...... i'm not giving up though i am still going to lose at least 40 lbs by my birthday .... any one have any suggestions..

Just a quick check-in: The scale is moving the right way! I've severely overhauled my eating habits. I'm really focusing on portion control. I have a family that will definitely complain about being on a diet with me and I don't have the time or the energy to make 2 meals so this has to suffice.

Welcome GeishaFan Very Happy

Of course your welcome to join this challenge. Sorry it took so long to respond but the long challenges are always kinda slow especially in the summer when everyone is trying to stay outside.

i am a newbie on this site and i would love to join this challenge. because there are 10.5 weeks left until oct. 20 i will make my goal 10 lbs. i gave up on weight watchers just a few weeks ago so i haven't really been focusing on my weight. it got to be too stressful for me with my other priorities, like quitting smoking and starting my own business.

anyhow i'd just like to say how glad i am that i found this page. i have been wanting to join some sort of weight loss challenge to motivate me, because motivation is hard to come by :)

Hey every1.....I would also like to join this challenge. I read these forums everyday and I enjoy reading about everyone's journey with weight loss. I always use to say to myself that it was only me who had weight problems and gained weight over night, or had trouble losing weight, but these forums really help me and keep me motivated. I did lose 25 to 30 pounds before, but I gained it all back because I got too comftorable and I let my old habits kick back. So I'm hoping to lose maybe 20 pounds or anything by october 20th.

*A little bit about me*....I'am a senior in high school and I have been a ballroom dancer for 13 years and I also do hip hop, salsa, latin, jazz. I workout a lot and I eat healthy, but I have always struggled with weight, it is a common issue which runs in my family. My older sister, who is now almost 24, was twice my size when she was my age and now she is half my size and she is skinny. I guess when you get older you do lose baby fat and you mature more into your own skin. I dont want to be skinny because I do have an athletic built....I have a lot of curves and when I lost a lot weight a while ago I looked great and I received so much attention, but now that I've gained some weight back people treat me like I'm a disease. I went to my dance studio today and a teacher came up to me and actually asked me...."What happened to you, you were so slim when I last saw you"......I got very discouraged, but at the same time motivated because I want to show that teacher that I can be slim again. My point is that when you're fit and toned and slim you are treated with entirely different respect than when you are a little overweight. I hope this challenge can give me the support I need to overcome people like that along with a very hard senior year. Thanx for listening...and here are some pictures of me.....I am not this size anymore, but I know that by october 20th I can get back to this.....

I've gained since I wrote, so I'm extremely disappointed in myself. I like to fast a lot and then break it with healthy food, but because my friends push me to eat other things, like cake on birthdays and such, I gain. I do take responsibility, of course, but I would do so much better if I was just all on my own, I know it.

I am going on a fast starting 7 tonight until at least 4 on Monday. A little fast before school. Hopefully I can be 121 again before Monday. I was 120 when I left, so you can see why I'm upset. I haven't been exercising as much, but I just feel that I don't deserve to be thin, so why do I even try?

Well, I'm probably going to go exercise now, haha, but thank you for making this challenge. How are you doing so far?

HI I am new here too. I just joined here today & I am definitely up to the challenge. Just weighed myself on a NEw scale and found I am actually 10 lbs less then I thought I was. That makes me much happier. But still not where I want to be.
Starting weight 165.6
Goal: 130

Tammy
