Weight Loss Blues |

Hi everyone. I'm new on this forum. I am really having difficulty staying on any diet or weight loss program. I don't know what else to do. I just love to eat. I know I eat the wrong foods and not exercise enough. I was losing weight on the South Beach Diet for awhile ..that was last year. Then, after Thanksgiving I went back to my old behavior. I'm tired and fed up with myself. I know I can do it.. I like to exercise but somehow I sabotage myself. I would welcome any feedback. |

I know how hard it is to stay on a diet, thats why I don't do diets. One of my best pieces of advice for you is to start out with small things. It may seem like it will take longer to lose the weight this way, but in reality something will only work if you stick to it.
Try doing little things like taking smaller portions, eating every 3h (5-6 mini meals), eating some protien with every meal, drinking 1oz of water for every 2# of body weight, taking the stairs, going for a walk, working out during commercial breaks, adding more fruits and veggies to your diet, the list goes on and on. If you select one goal to add a week it wont feel like much work at all, and you will be teaching yourself healthy eating habits for life.
The other thing I recommend is learing positive self talk.

This entire paragraph is negative talk, everytime you say, think, or write these things it tells your body to do these things. Try writing a list of all the things you like about yourself, and all the things you would like to improve on. Now write a list using I statements and no negative words such as not or don't.
Examples:
I enjoy eating healthy
I lose fat quickly and easily
I find time in my day to exercise
I enjoy walking
I always drink water
I take care of myself and those who depend on me
I know this sounds a little loonie, but it works. The other piece of advice I would like to pass along: Don't wait for motivation, view it as something you have to do, just like brushing your teeth, going to work, or doing the dishes.
I will move this post to the weight loss forum lounge in a couple of days (I'll wait for you to respond first) |
