HI every one! I am new to this forum.. NOT NEW to dieting though... I am ready to jump back on the diet wagon and I needed to find a forum where I can find support and motivation to keep going.. In January I was doing very good.. I lost 20 pounds and Febraury I failed miserably and stopped.. I gained 10 of those pounds back.. I am ready to give this a whirl again.> I want to lose 50 pounds...

I am a mother to 4 boys. Married to a wonderful husband who supports me 100%.. I like to eat JUNK Food.. It is easier for me to grab junk food then to cook myself a healthy meal while chasing after the little ones, cleaning, helping with home work etc.... Im just busy and grab whats quick...

Hope to find the support and motivation I can here!

Thanks

Holly

Hello Holly,
Welcome to the Weight Loss Forums.

We are a small community but I am sure that you will find here support and tips. Its a good start that you lost 20 pounds in January. This means that you know what you need to do. The first thing you should to is not to set up a such high goal in the first month. Take it slowly, learn what is good for you. Your goals should be educating yourself to eat healthy and change your eating habits. Add more fruits, salads, low fat meat... and of course cut down on junk food.

Please tell us more about your nutrition and we will try to give you tips.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Well right now my eating isnt RIGHT at all.. I eat what I can grab and go...

Dinner I eat with the family so its meat with some sort of carb (Rice, pasta or noodles or some sort) and of course veggies (My favorite)

In January I cut out ALL whites.. NO bread, no pasta, no potatoes etc...

Well, you know what there is to do. Cut down on pasta, bread, fat meat, carbo juice, sweets, alcohol, pizza, burgers... This doesn't mean that you can now enjoy a glass of wine now and then, just do it with moderation. Its clearly that you can do it.

Rice and veggies are good, fish, fruits, chicken or turkey meat is also good. There are lots of things out there that are so tasteful and still are healthy and good for dieting.

Welcome Holly! Wow, could the food industry make some money if they would tap into the "Healthy Mom, on the go" industry? I am just like you. Eat when I get a chance. Then, it's junk. We should really make a note to buy the right foods for ourselves. We make a list for the kid's lunches, snacks, try to imagine what they might want to have for dinner and so on. What about Mom?

We should come up with a Mom list. String cheese is a good one though I don't know how that might fit into "white foods". (That must be tough) How about individually packed baby carrots? Someone mentioned to me that raw almonds were good. I can't think of anything else cause I'm trying to make dinner as I write and I'm hungry (not good).

My best advice, Drink Lots of Water. And, several small meals through out the day. Check my post out under Nutrition. I think if you click on my posts, you'll see it. Titled something like For All You People Who Think You Need to Starve to Lose Weight . The article has some really good advice.

Good luck and I look forward to hearing about your weight loss success! Smile

Hey, Holly! It’s good to hear you want to change your diet, but don’t expect of anything easy! I think it’s going to take lots of ambition and an overall change in your lifestyle! You should go for vegetarian meals with milk and egg-based products to keep a balance of your health. To make it even easier, convince your family to take the diet with you! It’s healthy for your children, too! Healthier than junk food, by far! Rolling Eyes I am an ovo-lacto-vegetarian myself and I can say there are some delicious meals you can cook in no time!

Any food that is healthy is more expensive. I've noticed that. It seems like that the industry really wants us to stay fat. If you're poor or moderate income, it's hard to afford foods that are better for you. If it takes less processing, you'd think it would cost less.

you are so right, it makes me angry at the cost of healthier stuff, like whole grain pasta- like 3 times the price of the normal stuff! geesh! but y'know its hard to put your whole family on a diet with you. yes, serve healthy meals, but kids need carbs to grow and develope, i don't need potatoes at every meal. and my hubby is a picky eater- meat and potaoes is about all he eats. my son is even pickier! and i don't cook every meal we eat...
challenges of dieting in a family! not that they can't be overcome, but they do exist.

It’s true what you say, girls, but not tragic. You can put it this way: more money on healthy food, less on good doctors! It’s an investment in yourself, which we rarely make, unfortunately! And maybe you should have a chat with your life partners, too! It’s not necessarily about dieting and losing weight, it’s about staying healthy! They’re the ones who should support you in the first place. You’re needs aren’t that different of theirs after all! Maybe I’m just lucky, but my boyfriend agrees with me that veggies are healthier than meat. But I took the time to persuade him. And I served as an example. He’s seen me happy and wanted to feel the same. Try that, maybe it’ll work for you too! Tell me how it worked!
