I took an ephedra pill last year. One that was recommended in a paper after Britney Spears took it (Can't remember the name now but it was a blue capsule)

It's really very dangerous as any doctor will tell you.

I took it for a week and in that time I passed out twice at work and also crashed my car. It made me shaking, dizzy and just out of it. I later found out that it is just speed which really scared me as I am very anti drugs.

Surely it is better to lose weight through diet and healthy exercise or with a prescribed pill from the doctors which they then keep a close monitor on you.

I know we all want a quick fix, I certainly would love to lose my weight instantly, but a the end of the day I would rather be a little overweight and alive than skinny and dead!!

Ephedra is not speed!

It has been shown as a very effective fat burner, but also very dangerous if not taken properly. The problem is in that it effects people differently so you have to listen to your body. Some products are also safer than others, the product you were taking may have had safe levels of ephedra mixed with insane amouts of caffine and other stimulants.

Please do not take it that I think ephedra is safe for everyone, but for some people it works very well without side effects. For others on the other hand ephedra can be deadly.

Sorry, I probably should have worded my post better. Everybody is different and so people are affected differently. I was gutted it didn't work for me and if it had then I probably still would have been using it now.

Please don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to preach to anybody, just to make you aware that these things can have horrible side effects for some people.

If it works for you, then I wish you luck in your weight loss.

By the way, the pill I used was Zantex-3 which has very high levels of caffine as well so this probably didn't help.

I have heard that Hoodia is extremely good at suppressing appetite. Has anyone any experience with this?

Not a problem, I just like to make sure that things posted are kept in prospective. Had I found this forum right after I had taken ephedra my post probably would have sounded the same or worse.

I just equate the way most people take diet pills with flying an airplane. If you've never done it or been around it, getting thrown into the cockpit with minimal instructions, your gonna crash. That same person with an instructor by thier side will be able to fly. Please don't take this as a statement against you because I came up withthis from personal experience, I crashed hard before I decided I might need more instruction.

LuckySmile, You are doing a great job.

There is such an assortment of products being sold with Ephedra, one may need to try more than one brand to find something that works for them. Not only do most have caffeine but you also need to watch your own caffeine intake. That will get you going! For me, not in a good way. mhardwidge, I am just like you. I could never take Zantex-3! I am currently taking a product with just 10mg of Ephedra and 75mg of caffeine per capsule. To compare, a 12-ounce cup of coffee can have up to 200mg of caffeine, while a can of soda can have up to 55mg of caffeine. So, that's my limit. I completely avoid coffee & sodas when taking it.

Good Luck with you weight loss.

mhardwidge,
zantrex-3 is ephedra free... make sure you do some research before you blame your body's reactions to something

At this time Zatrex3 is a caffeine based pill. It does have pretty high caffeine levels.

So, maybe it was the high dosage of caffeine that made you be so shakey and dizzy? :? Caffeine does that to me. I can't even have a cup of coffee. Not even half a cup! What do you think, mhardwidge?

I don't think Zantrex 3 ever had ephedra...

Anyway I have said it before and I'll say it again - for me caffeine has a much worse affect the ma huang - I will likely go stright ma huang after I finish what I am on.

hi, the pills that brittany spears took do not contain ephedra, they do not sell zantrex-3 with ephedra in stores. it was probably the caffeine that got you.

Ephedra is back!

I'm a licensed physician and I used to take ephedra until it was temporarily banned by the FDA in 2004 and permanently banned in 2006.

As most of us know, ephedra was banned because it was causing heart attacks in some people and jitteriness as well as increase blood pressure and heart rate in others. :(

Some very smart people, including a former FDA director and an attorney who has practices regulatory law (FDA and FTC) for many years have teamed up with a nutritional product expert.

They have come up with a safe and FDA-compliant (legal) reformulation of real ephedra. It's called Ximo Golden Ephedra and it's now available in the form of a delicious, mango-flavored energy drink. It's
concentrated, so you only need to drink 2 ounces a day.

I read some review and found this.

Ephedra's maybe very effective to help to reduce weight. But, please take a note that ephedra has also the most side effects. Consulting to your doctor might be really good.

Here is the link that states ephedra might be dangerous and ephedra is banned in Canada.

Wait a minute... someone says they had a really bad reaction to ephedrine and then they rant and rave that its dangerous and not to take it etc etc.... but then u realize that caffeine was the real culprit and not one person says that its dangerous and not to take it ??? you people are morons, ephedrine and its derivatives were banned so that the government could keep making trillion$ on their cocaine stronghold... search google for CIA plane crashes with kilos of cocaine, its even on youtube!
PS- get your facts straight before you point the finger, why do you think the government pays for the radio-active fertilizer that is used for growing tobacco??? yet they wont let u smoke a little pot? wake up and smell the conspiracies people!
