Help out with new site test

Some of you may noticed that Saturday morning the forum was for few hours closed. I tried to do the big upgrade from phpbb2 to phpbb3... it did not worked. Everything was fine until the last step. Almost everything works except that users can't post new threads...

I will find a way or another to fix this meanwhile please give it a shot at weight-loss-forums.com/test/
You should be able to log in access pretty much everything. Just give me few minutes of your time, poke around try to post new threads, PMs, change avatars.

Some thing are not quite set up, I know many of them. Feel free to mail me at light@weight... with your opinions, screen shots, suggestions.

I am sooooooooooooo tired after sitting in front of my computer more then 30 hours for the past 2 day, I got a plane to catch tomorrow. I will be moving to the beautiful south of French for the last 2 months and I was hoping to put it online... Well back to the drawing board.

I don't know if this has anything to do with your 'new topic' bug or not.

But when I tried to start a new topic in the test forum I got logged out.
So I clicked over to this forum since I already had the window open and I was still logged in. I refreshed the page and was still logged in.

The new format is going to take some getting used to, but the look is very streamlined.

The new format is going to take some getting used to for me. I'm terrible with change , but I'll try it out...

I just landed... thanx for the kind wishes. I will look into all the suggestions you have and try to make a good nice little forum. The new forum will be different but hopefully it will solve lots of the actual problems. Pretty much it will have all the functionality as this one and be simple to use...

But when I tried to start a new topic in the test forum I got logged out.

1) The speed on the new site is VERY cool!!

2) I do not like that there is no color separation of topics or posts within a thread. Not even a line/box. It makes it harder to read.

3) I also do not like how huge the avatar is on the main topic list. I liked the smaller grid on the old site and how you could see a preview.

I went to profile and turned off avatars but all that did was give everyone the default paper bag head

I'm sure I'd adjust to anything, but wanted to give you my thoughts since you asked for feedback.

Ok so until now we have the following:

1. post preview
2. color separation of topics or posts - it can easily be done
3. the huge the avatars on the main (index page) will be smaller. Right now you see them in 80x80 px, they will be in 48x48 px
4. a topic preview in the forum page

Have you used the visual editor? Just go to this page and post something. You can use the Bold, Italic, Underline....

I really like it!

Observations:
a) the unordered list and ordered list bullets/numbers don't show up after posting
b) I didn't see how to "quote" - maybe I'm just missing something?

1 - its a bug but I can fix it
2 - its not yet added but It can be done

It seems like the official switch has happened...I've been fooling around trying to get my avatar loaded, but since I have it saved on my computer, I can't figure out how to do it. My only option seems to be to link it from a "url". Do I have to post it on photobucket first?

Also, you are probably already aware of this, but lots of recent posts are missing.

The forum conversion lasted about 8 hours, there should be a 8 hours gap. I will try to import them into the new db.
