Hi. I started taking Reductil two days ago. I went to a party the evening of the first day I was taking the medication, and had a little too much red wine. The next day I had the absolute worst hangover I have ever had in my life (I'm 39)! So, I have sworn off alcohol while taking this medication (not a bad idea as alcohol just gives empty calories anyhow). Has anyone else had this experience?

Welcome to The Weight Loss Forums.
You are not supposed to have alcohol when you are taking Meridia. This is a prescription drug that acts on the nervous system. Small amounts of alcohol are OK but do not aver do it.

Thanks, Sarah! It would have been nice for my doctor to warn me. But, I do live in Thailand, where women do not commonly drink alcohol...

Hi, I am glad that you are okay. It is rather dangerous to drink alcohol while on reductil. Thats what I gathered from everything that I have read about it. You should really take the time to read the insert that comes with reductil its very informative and even gives a list of medications that negatively react with reductil/meridia.

Please take care. Meridia can be dangerous if you do not follow your doctor prescription.
I try not to take any alcohol while I am on any medications. There can be allergic reactions or the drug can lost its effect.

I am not much of a drinker, but if I know I am going to be consuming alcohol on a night out, I just don't take my tablet on that day, as i find if I mix the two I get very drunk rather quickly. Although its possibly better to avoid alcohol think of all those empty calories!

Do not take Meridia with alcohol. Its dangerous to mix them.
This goes for lots pf prescription drugs...
