Brand new! Jenn's weightloss journal! |
|
|
I'm new to this message board, but not new to the drama of being overweight. It's been about 6 months since I've seriously tried to lose weight. I'm 5'3 1/2" and weigh in at 207 lbs as of this morning.
I'm going to try to do this without any pills, just good old hard work in exercise and eating right. My main problems: I'm lazy and I constantly crave sweets! I can make up almost any excuse to not exercise, or to eat a snake. (That was pretty difficult to finally say!) I have a place to work out, my boyfriend's parent's basement...and was supposed to start this morning. I don't have a good excuse as to why I didn't.
It would be great to recieve encouragement and even types of pushing. I need to be asked daily if I've worked out, as if I have a coach. So if anyone is good at being pushy, feel free to hop on in and push! Pushing does not mean being cruel, however.
I'm going to try to make it a priority to post daily on my achievements and mistakes. I plan to post food eaten, and time spent working out.
Edit:
A little more about me: I'm a full time Cosmetology student and attend school Monday- Thursday 2pm-8:15pm. During the day I'm at home, usually alone. I clean the house, and take care of my dogs, which are my babies. I'm in a relationship that is going on 6 months, and my wonderful boyfriend lives with me. I suffer from severe depression and anxiety, which play a role in my weight level and avoidence of public gyms. I've never been thin, and the smallest I remember myself is a size 13/14 in 7th grade. I'm now a size 16, but could even go for an 18...however, I refuse. I LOVE to shop, but refuse to buy new clothing until I lose weight. I will not, I repeat, I WILL NOT, go up to the next size.
Some situations I want to feel more comfortable in: Being naked infront of my boyfriend, and looking in the mirror. I know my boyfriend loves me no matter what, but I hate what I look like and therefore cannot be comfortable.
My goals:
End of September: 190
End of October: 180
End of November: 170
End of December 160
End of January: 150
So 10lbs a month, which I hope is realistic.
I plan to cut calories back to 1,600... is this realistic? Should I eat more calories? Let me know!!!!
Also...does anyone know, apporixmately how many pounds it takes to lose before you go down a size? |

hello blessed. welcome. i am new to the board too. i don't have a weight journal..right now i'm just prying into other peeps..lol...i know you just started your journal, but....have u exercised today? if not, get after it girl!
its never too late in the day to start, imho
how many pounds it takes to lose before you go down a size?
don't quote me on this or nothin cuz i'm not a doctor or anybody that knows anything, but i've heard for women 10 pounds = 1 size...however the bigger u are (ie, plus sizes) the more it goes up..say 14 pounds.
but it does , i think, vary with each individual person.
good luck |

So, it's 11:24 in New York and I just got done with my first work-out of this time-around. I work out in my boyfriend's mother's basement, as she has numerous pieces of equiptment and videos. It wasn't the best, because I forgot batteries for the Eliptical, and I also should have brought my medicine ball. However, I worked out for about 45min- an hour (Oh yea...need a watch too). I did about 20 min on the tredmill, some 3lb arm workouts, about 25 reps per each type. I also did about 15 - 20 minutes on the total gym, which worked out my arms and legs.
I tried to do a video (a slim in six), and I thought it was hard...it was a ab video that lasted about 11 min 20 sec...but I just thought I was going to die! I have a large chest (about 40DD) and I thought it was incredibly hard to do the crunches... any suggestions? I thought it would be easier if I brought my medicine ball and did crunches on that.
Oh well, tomarrow I shall bring everything I need and work out 10XXXX harder! I'm proud of myself though, I was thinking of any and every excuse NOT to go work out.
By the way, thank you for your posts, I appreciate the welcome and the tips! Feel free to comment away, I love the support and enjoy any tips or suggestions! |

I do not know about that exercising video. Usually the first sessions should be easy and accessible for everyone. I like to use the medicine ball (Swiss ball) to work out my abs. It protects our back and keeps the abs under pressure. There are lots of exercises you can do with your Swiss ball.
Good luck and keep us posted. |

So, I've not been working out. I've been cleaning house like crazy, my mother's on vacation and I want to get it looking halfway decent before she get's home.
And honestly... I just have no drive. I need something to give me energy. Any suggestions? |

A strong Italian espresso? Green tee? Apple+Carrots+Bananas fresh squeezed juice? RedBull? There are lots of things that give you energy. Diet pills also helps but I first recommend a good night sleep and a strong coffee or green tee in the morning.
I had a busy week hopefully the weekend will recharge our batteries |

Green tee its great. You can replace your morning coffee with it. IT gives you energy and is a great detox.
Good luck. |

| Been pretty busy lately, cleaning out the house. I've definately burned some calories in that aspect. I hurt my knee at the begining of the week, so have avoided any rough workouts. Trying to get a membership to a new gym, money is low though. I'm down a pound, I haven't been eating as much and went grocery shopping. I got alot of healthy snacks, so that's encouraging. I've been trying to cook more lately instead of going for fast food (although I usually have a salad or market fresh sandwhich). Have a migraine so I'll write more later. |

| I've been reading your journal so far, but simply didn't post anything, 'cause I thought you were doing great. I can see now that you're finding yourself excuses for giving up regular exercise. Don't do that, Blessed, 'cause your diet's going to fail and then you'll be disappointed again. Hang on by the Christmas at least, it's not that hard! |
