Why does fast food makes us fat? |
|
|
We all know that fast food is the worst choice when it comes to nutrition. Looking at the ingredients we find nothing unusual then regular food. Meat, tomatoes, potatoes, cabbages, bread... Why do you think that fast food is so bad?
Looking forward to hear your opinions!
Thanx.

| It's the oil and fat they cook the food in. Besides, it's solid food, difficult to digest and bad combo of carbs. |

It makes you feel hungry constantly. It's like you always want more and more. And you do get more and then you get fat |

I think most simply put it's the amount of calories consumed in an average meal.
If you look at the size of a hamburger and fries 20 years ago...the average portion size is 3X as big TODAY.
An avereage deluxe cheeseburger...BIG MAC...has over 704 calories. Large Fries have 540...now add your soda...if you drink it and that's as many calories as some consume in a day.
At the end of the day it's calories in Less calories expended, utilized, or burned. If you eat more than you burn....YOU GET FAT. Given that is just one meal and you now add the remaining meals and snacks...It's not a good calorie Day. If you do it more than once a week. You can count on some FAT CREEPING ONTO YOUR BACKSIDE!
NOW...looking at the nutrient value is another story.
The bottom line....FAST FOOD IS BAD! Eat it sparingly and in small portions.
There's my 2 cents! |

Well said, Happytapper! It's not like there're rumors on damaging fast food; it's a certainty. That guy eating MacDonald's for a whole month proved it. He damaged his health so bad doctors couldn't believe it. There's even a word for that: junk food! It's like a definition or even more! I know for sure hamburgers, fries and soda are good only in separate portions and as rarely as possible. |

The movie is called SuperSize Me. It's a great documentary...Anyone who hasn't seen it should watch it! It'll will make you think twice about ever going out to fast food again. |

It's not only McDonald's, it's everything they put in it: fat, steroid meat, steroid veggies, the way they smell and keep you hungry no matter what, the low price, the family feeling that keeps you coming back....It's like a disease you can't get rid of. I am so against that and a fan of people protesting against it. Athens was the place of a large protest against McDonald's this summer. With little effect, unfortunately. |

| There was this documentary, other than SuperSize Me that said 75% of all medical conditions are caused in certain way by fast food. Scary, huh? |

| It's the culture of excess, as well. The McDonald's of the world make it so cheap and inviting to order and eat much more than we need to feel full. What is our small in America is Britain's large. |

fast food meals are cooked into fats and oils, that's probably where the most calories come from
if you read the nutrition facts on the boxes you'll see that they contain a lot of salt, this in the long run causes a high accumulation of liquids |

| I think it is so bad because it is a lot of calories, with lots of fat, for a fairly low price. Fast food places usually have a dollar menu, or something similar, where for a little bit of money you get a lot of calories. A hamburger isn't necessarily bad, a hamburger everyday is. |
