Hello Everyone,

I just came across this site and thought I would join everyone. I am in need of some advice, I have been on a low calorie and low fat diet for the past month and a half and I work out every other day on my elliptical machine and I am on there for 41mins each time and I burn off 421-425 calories each time. I also use an Ab Scissor before I do the elliptical. Anyway, I only take in 900-1200 calories per day and so far I have only lost 4-5lbs. What is the deal? I don't each sugar anymore, I don't salt my food, I don't drink pop. So what do you think I am doing wrong? Do I need to work out everyday? I work from my home so I am not sure what to do, I am getting quite upset b/c I work so hard and nothing is happening. I am trying to get to 125lbs. I am stuck on 154. Can someone out there let me know what they think? I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Jennifer Smile

Jennifer you are having the same problem so many other people have with weight loss, to much information with no real answers. Good news I have spent the last year trying to sort through all the information out there so I see some problems with your program.

1) Sticking with the same workout will slow your results. Think about how fast your body adapts to new things; your first day at a new job it seems to take forever to do things that even a few weeks later is routine and you don't even think about. While that is good at a job it is the same with exercise your body has gotten effiecent at what your doing so it doesn't need to spend as much effort (AKA calories) to do it. Try mixing it up. Do weight traning, go dancing, or swimming just do something different (this helps on the motivation side too)

2)Eat more!!! Your body adapts to your calorie intake too, ever notice how you have friends who can eat whatever they want and still be skinny? this happens because your body automatically adjusts your metabolism based on your calorie intake.

3) Stop worrying about your abs. Your body works your abs all day everyday every time you move. If you are looking to achive a nice toned looking midsection the only way to do it is to reduce your overall bodyfat. You would be better spending the time on extra cardio than on ab work.

4) Remember to look at the scale objectivly. Most people starting a new exercise program lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. While this is a good thing it can make it seem like you are getting a lack of results for the effort you put in. Instead of just looking at the scale take measurements.

5) Lift weights. Most women are scared that lifing weights will give them huge bulky muscles, the truth is huge bulky muscles are very hard to grow for men, for women it is damn near impossible without supplements and/or a very good understanding about how to manipulate your body. In reality long sleak toned muscles look good and help keep your metabolism high 24/7

6) Drink water! Water boosts your weight loss in so many ways that were someone to just descover it, it would be labled the new miracle weight loss drug. It does exacly what so many pills claim to do except without side effects (except having to go pee) It gives you energy, increases your metabolism, detoxifies your body, make you feel full, and reduces the amount of water weight you carry in your body. The recomendation for weight loss is 1oz per 2# of bodyweight plus 4oz per 15min of exercise.

I have more suggestions but I am out of time for now so I will post them later. If you could post a sample of a days diet I can give you some more specific answers.

hi. From your post i find you so upset isn't it. See the problem is same for all those who want to loose their weight. To avoid or stop eating food is not the solution. The main key to get success in this is make a diet chart which includes all the food items but make sure it will be in the planned way. Eat more fruits salads, sprouted food, also vegetables with less amount of oil included. Dont forget if you will not workout you never lose your weight. Spend more time on exercises and walk.
