Ok I am 32 years old and I am over weight. (5'10" 245lbs)

I tend to eat when I am depressed, nervous or just bored. I hate the way I look and I want to lose this weight.

What have I done to correct this?
Early this year I joined 24 hour fitness (a gym in my area). I hired a personal trainer 3 times a week who put me on a diet also. I would have to say I was 80%+ on the diet and worked out with the trainer 3 times a week (1 hour sessions). I busted my butt and put 110% effort into this. After 1 month I had only lost 9 lbs. My trainer said it was because I gained muscle mass but I saw little to no change (physical appearance in the mirror). This month with gym fees and personal trainer sessions costed me $1500 (give or take).

So after seeing little to nothing after 1 month and $1500, I quit. And this lead to further depression.

I have looked into weight loss surgery but I can not afford this and you know insurance isn't paying. And Gastric bypass for 60 lbs isn't right, I think.

I want to loss 40-60 lbs. I think about losing weight 10 times a day alteast. I try to cut out bad foods but as I said before I eat when bored, depressed, or nervous.

What can I do? Am I just ment to be fat?

Of course I want the quick fix like everyone else but I know its impossible.

If there a fat surgery out there that costs under $5000?

PLEASE HELP ME!

Hi David,
Welcome to the Weight Loss Forums.

$1500 per months is quite a lot but having a personal trainer is very good. He is right after one month you can not see big changes. Indeed the fat you burned turned into muscles. Its a commune fact and it happened to almost everybody. its a good sign.

By now your metabolism should of changed. Your new build muscles will start to consume those calories. Its a great start.

You have 2 options:
- continue working out with your trainer. I am sure that he knows what he does and he will point you the the right path

- continue by yourself to workout. You know all the exercises by now, you know the order and the number of repetitions. Go to the gym and ask aground, you will get free help. At the gym I am going anyone who asks its helped by the older and more experimented members.
Its impossible not to get help in a gym, its like a "code of ethics" and each athletes follow it.

There is no third option like quitting or going to liposuction. 9 pounds its a lot in one month, most people starts with 4-5 if they are lucky.

Good luck, do not give up and keep us posted.
If you want I can do some training routines for you, just let me know.

Sorry buddy but you are dumb, you might have lost 13 or 14 pounds and gained 5 pounds of muscle, thats a lot! of course the muscles are not noticeable at first as they are still below the fat! But once you burn some more you will look much better than if you just took the weight off, 3 more months like that and you would have look even better than what you expected at first, my advice, sttart over again, you were doing great so dont ruin it now, there is no better way than the road you had chose.
