Hi, I'm new here. My name is Monique, I'm 19 and 170 lbs. Most of them are on the abdomen and nothing seems to shake them off. I heard Hillary Clinton went on the South Beach diet and she said that fat on the abdomen went off pretty fast. Is it true? What are the risks?

Welcome, Monique! There's plenty of information on the forum on South Beach diet, but it could be summed up by saying it doesn't promote a balanced diet and it's not recommended to people with cardiovascular and kidney impairment. Yet, it is efficient in weight loss, keeps you away from diabetes and works great for those with slow metabolism. And yes, it does help you lose the fat on the abdomen.
The explanation is simple: once you eliminate all barbs, the body looks for another source of energy to burn and finds it in the fat on the abdomen and other parts of your body.
