any good tips? |
|

Hey everyone. I think these forums are great. Anyway, my problem is that I have pretty big biceps, but my forearms...I think theyre called triceps but im not sure....anyways my forearms are little and flabby. I mean, my biceps are toned quite a bit, but theyre flabby too. Does anyone know any way to target the fat in one specific part of your arms? I dont want to build muscle under the fat. I want to eliminate the problem first. One more question while I'm on here if its alright. How do you get rid of that thing, i like to call, a turkey neck? Mine isn't that flabby, but its flabby enough that when i lean my head down i can see it clearly.
Any advice would help. Keep these forums goin.

Hi fat mike,
I thing that some cardio sessions will solve your problems. You can work out your triceps and biceps and they will grow and tonne up but if you have excess fat cells the muscles will be covered by fat tissue.
So, you need first to burn that fat and only then your muscles will look good.
Try cardio combined with weight training and you will have the best results!
Good luck. |

I agree with light. You usually have to burn the fat before you can see the muscles, but it's not really possible to pinpoint where you will burn fat in your workouts.
For the turkey neck, I suggest shoulder and upper back exercises. This might tighten that skin up.

You can work on your forearms by doing hammer curls. A hammer curl is like a bicep curl accept you turn your wrist inwards so that the dumbell handles are vertical. If you want to go to extremes you can turn you wrist inwards some more so that your hands are facing the ground. |

I have a feeling he was talking about triceps and not fore arms but I could be wrong.
That person was right there is not way to pin point where your are going to burn fat or "spot reduce". The only thing to do is to keep building muscle overall which will create a need for additional calories in your diet. This basically boils down to you losing fat. The muscles in your body use fat directly as a fuel source so the more muscle mass you have the more fat you will need just to mantain your mass.
Also cardio is great for heart health but it is far less effective at burning fat than weight training. When you do cardio your heart rate moves above and below your target heart rate of 60 to 70 percent of max heart rate which is where you burn the most calories. After being at your target heart rate for 20 mins you will have burned all the carbs in your body and you will start going after fat. When you lift weights your body stays in this target heart rate naturally the whole time you are lifting and during short breaks. Lifting weights for an hour to 3 hours is a reasonable goal where as doing cardio for that long is a different story. Also cardio is not building any real muscle mass so its doing nothing for you in the long run as far as fat burning.
Hope this helps. |

Building muscle increases metabolism which in turn burns more calories and fat.
If you do some cardio 3 or 4 days a week and incorporate some weight training you will burn fat AND increase your metabolism at the same time.
