I have been on the south beach diet for 12 days. I lost 7 pounds in the first week and have only lost 1 pound since. I keep a food diary and when I count the calories it is between 600 and 800. I am also walking on the treadmill every day, which burns between 108 and 200 calories. Can anyone help me?

you need more than 800 calories a day in order to lose weight and be healthy. your body will go into fat-storing mode if it thinks it is starving. so shoot for around 1200-1400. there are websites that can tell you how many calories to consume based on your weight, activity level, height, and age. oh, and you don't have to be so strict, that's the beauty of this plan. eat till you are full, the protein will help curb cravings. eat five servings of veggies a day! you will notice you feel full and healthy and not deprived. also weight training builds lean muscle and helps you burn fat.

I agree. You are starving yourself, and your body will not burn the fat if it thinks you are starving. You may burn muscle though, which is bad. Eat more, or you may become anorexic, and there are severe medical repercusions with that.
