It amazes me with all the people I come acrioss that would love to get ephedra!!! Weight loss has come a long way and theirs really a few great products out there that really help you lose weight. People that want ephedra just won't take the time to research weight loss. I feel bad. Hoodia has given me the best results. I use certified Hoodia! Not the fake stuff in walmart. Please read before you buy anything. Sarah

I bought mine from GNC and it didn't do jack. What works for you may not work for everyone.

How much have you researched ephedra? It is still a better fat burner than Hoodia. Yes I have done the research and know all the effects on the body.

My 2 cents on ephedra AND Hoodia.

I used to take ephedra and loved it.....but it can wreak havoc on your adrenal glands.

As far as the deaths associated with ephedra......there are MANY 'pills' available with FDA approval that cause death as well as many other problems yet the FDA still allows them to be sold.

That's what bugs me.

On the subject of hoodia......not all hoodia products are the same. You have to get the real stuff but it does work. It's not a fat burner.....it's an appetite suppressant.

No desire to eat equals weight loss for alot of people.

And that's the kicker.

Hoodia and Ephedra shouldn't be compared. One is for AS and one is a metabolic booster.

My issue isn't caloric intake it's metabolic rate. Hoodia wouldn't do anything for me.

Oh geez... Let's not get all mushy about the FDA! Yes, ephedra can be VERY dangerous if you're an idiot about it, so can lots of "safe" drugs. It was banned b/c people weren't being responsible, if you research it A LITTLE you'll find low doses are actually quite safe, it was only pulled b/c of public outcry. Our FDA won't approve Mexoryl (the best sunscreen ingredient you can buy, available everywhere EXCEPT the U.S.) because of bureaucratic red tape. Do some research before you tear everyone down for thinking for themselves - clearly you want to lose weight too or you wouldn't be here. If everything you tried was crap (for you) & cost lots of money, you'd consider options that are currently on the fringe too.

The only reason people died from taking ephedra is b/c they abused it. In every case I have read about, these folks were taking 2 and 3 times the suggested dose.

There were a few who had heart defects and learned the hard way that they had them. There have been deaths on thrill rides for the same reason.

Drink too much and you'll die too from alcohol poisoning; and plenty of morons do that too. How ironic that liquor is still legal!

I have taken ephedra on and off for years with amazing results. But, ephedra doesn't work for everyone. My mother has no results with it whatsoever. We all have different internal chemistries so different things will work for different people.

I will say that no ephedra product has worked as well as before the first ban. I loved Metabolife and Hydroxycut. My biggiest suggestion is to cycle any weight loss meds as your body will adjust. 4-6 weeks on--4-6 weeks off works well for me.

I tried ephedra about 7 years ago (diet fuel) and it helped me lose 30 lbs. It was great! Lately, I tried Hoodia, the real deal, very expensive. Boy what a waste of money! It did NOTHING for me!

Has anyone heard of Zylene? I'm thinking about trying that next.

Thanks for any info.

My wife died two months ago from a heart attack caused by her use of ephedra. She was 37 years old, in great shape, athletic. She took this crap for a bout 8 years. She loved it and swore by it. She didn't have any adverse effects from the pills until she died. So all those people out there who think the FDA is wrong for banning this product, keep taking this crap, but there is a chance you're going to die from it. I don't think getting into a size 4 is worth trading forty years of life.

Just because people want to loose their weight in days with considering the evil effects of the products. They just don't want to do some hard work [exercise] for this purpose. There is surely some thing wrong in ephedra that FDA is not approving this product.

Losing weight and getting healthy should be synonymous so why would anyone consider such a dangerous drug except for strictly vain reasons?

The Chinese have been using ephedra (from the Ma Huang plant) for thousands of years. Obviously their population is not declining, and I saw very few overweight Chinese during my visits to China.

As with anything, there is a difference between abusing a substance and using it. As others pointed out, the vast majority of deaths were with people who way over used the stuff.

Ephedra has demonstrated metabolism increasing abilities, but should not be used as a long-term weight management solution, and certainly is no substitute for healthy eating and being active. I use ephedra to continue to rid the last 5 to 10 pounds of abdominal fat; it has meant the difference of having a flat tummy to one with abs coming into visibility. Once I "get there", I will stop using the stuff because it is no longer needed and simply continue my healthy lifestyle

I have virtually no confidence in the FDA in representing the best interests of the American public, or in their competence as an organization. FDA continually allows harmful stuff on the market that pad the coffers of major corporations, while banning safer products for political reasons. It has almost come to the point that I consider FDA approval a danger sign.

I took a few pills from my sons bottle of therma lean...The most I took was 3 in one day..my son was shocked... the recommended dose is 1-2 with each meal...Mau Haug(350 mg)KOla nut(350 mgs) chominum Piclonate(200mcg) and white willow (25mg)This all means not alot to me... I took them off and on for about three weeks..mostly I divided the capsules in two or three and probably took one a day in total. Now i am off totally and feeling a great deal of anxiety that I have no other reason for and have not felt for years. I did not abuse the pills but it is sure I am not a canditate...Health food stores say they can create havoc on the adrenals which uh huh exactly what they did so please do not blame those people like me that did not abuse or over use..there is potential for danger and glad I found that out now...now I need some remedy for the full out adrenal problems I am experiencing.

Ephedra is bad news. In fact I think all diet pills are bad news - I don't understand why anyone chooses the diet pill way of doing things... I don't think that's the way to long term results.
