I have been taking the Alli pill for over three weeks and I have not been moving my bowels like some people have claimed. I am more constipated now then ever.

PostPosted: Fri May 16, 2008 6:16 pm    Post subject: Watch out for butter sprays!!!! Reply with quote

I started taking alli a few weeks ago and I love it. I have definately noticed fat in te toilet, but I have gotten to know what I should and shouldn't eat. I try to weigh the risk/reward for eating. I try to think of my food as "how many situps will this take to work off" not to mention the alli cosequences. I don't take my weight because I work out and my weight seems to have no bearing on what kinda shape i'm in. better to do a body fat analysis, you can get a BMI scale for about $50 at wallyword. Sorry for babbling, the thing I noticed before I started Alli was when I was trying my "low fat diet" I was not losing any fat! I was eating lots of veggies with fat free butter, makin dishes with fat free butter spray, popcorn with spray..... One day I decided to find out what the problem was, so I called Parkay. They told me the amount of one spray has relatively no fat, but when I took 5 sprays and mutiplied it by the amount in the bottle..... 90 grams of fat per bottle! I was using a lot of this stuff too! Feel free to use it, but watch out! Personally I am trying noy to go more natural, using olive oil to cook, and real sugar on the occasion that I must... To many people randomly dying of cancer! But in the answer to another question from earlier Alli doesn't seem to descriminate between "good" fats and "bad" fats, how could it? So olive oil and avacados will end up in your toilet too, but don't stop substituting because of that. Some of the fat you eat is still getting into you system, better good fat than bad! Sorry for the long post, I'm sure I've given the spellcheckers something to tear apart! If anyone knows anything more about the butter thing I'd be curious I'm currently using "Smart Balance" when I need the butter taste, but haven't called them yet!! Good luck!

I have been on alli for about 3 weeks now, I have not had any incidents at all. I take the pill with every meal, regardless, even pizza and greasy Chinese food. Never had a single issue. I BM more, and it is looser, but that is the point after all.

Once, I had MCD's, and I had some discomfort, but nothing that results in changing shorts or disgustiness, shrug, I don't know

Excited!

I'm startin tomorrow officially, and I'm GOING to stick to it. I'll start takin pics and stuff, and let ya'll know how it goes!
Good luck to everyone!

PostPosted: Sun Jun 01, 2008 9:31 am    Post subject: alli treatment effects Reply with quote

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share my alli experience with you. I have been taking alli for over a month now. I have lost 3 lbs. not much, but better than nothing. I had not had any treatment effects during the first month, except for maybe some extra gassiness, but I also made sure that I never ate anything super fattening. Well yesterday happened and I can't even begin to tell you about the painful abdominal cramping that I experienced. At first I thought, well maybe it's my time of the month, I usually don't get cramps, I have on occasion, but it wasn't. Then I thought maybe I have a bladder infection, and pretty much went with that the whole day as I was laid out on the couch, barely able to move without having this horrible pain shooting through my lower abdomen. I thought about the alli treatment effects being possible, but I thought it couldn't possibly as I had only eaten some salmon kebobs the previous evening for dinner. I will tell you the only reason I didn't make a trip to the ER is because I never had a temperature, but the pain was constant and almost unbearable at times, alleviated slighty by ibuprofen and a hot water bottle on my stomach. I had plans to go to the baseball game with my boyfriend but couldn't go because of the pain. Finally about 7pm I had a bowel movement, and what was in the toilet was at least a half inch coating of orange oil. I couldn't believe it. I did however start feeling much better right away, or it could have been that glass of wine. I do have to say that I still do feel some slight cramping, and it is the next day, but nothing like yesterday. I did not take any alli yesterday, and the only thing I can think of that would have made that happen, was the salmon was marinated in some sauce, could that have been it? Maybe there was alot of oil in the marinade that increased the fat content? I am sad to say that I am now afraid to start the alli again. I can't risk having that pain happen to me again if I accidentally eat something more fattening than I thought. Has anything like this happened to anyone else? I know I only lost 3 lbs. in a month, but it is more than I lost without it. Thanks for letting me vent.

I have been taking alli for almost a month and yes, I get that discomfort in my stomach too. It will last no more than 30 min. and then I will have diarreah. Weird thing is, sometimes I ate what I KNOW was a fattening meal (Memorial Day BBQ so I really couldnt avoid it unless I STARVED myself) and I didnt have any bad side effects. Then the next day I will go to saladworks and get a salad and MAN I get those side effects bad. I know now that those salads are NOT low fat, but they had to be better than the greasy fried chicken that I ate at that BBQ the day before! Its just wierd that it doesnt happen every time I eat something fattening.

I tried Tenuate and Phen-D for short periods of time and they scared me so I decided to try Alli.

I have been on Alli for a little over a week. The first night I had some side effects but not anything significant.

I have been working at home this week and thought I would test this medication and see what I can expect. I am a control freak and wanted to know how this would work on my body. So, as stupid as I sound, I started eating high fat foods about 5 days ago. Full fat salads, fish oil capsules during the day, high fat baked goods, etc and I have not had any side effects.

To take it to the next level, I doubled up my Alli dose (to the prescription level) and have been eating the high fat for two days. Nothing.

I am back to eating healthy again. I don't want to gain weight just to see if Alli will cause me any grief.

I am meeting with clients in two days and am hoping it doesn't sneak up on me since I will be eating well from now on.

I will keep you posted if I get any weird delayed reactions.

I have been reading through this forum and thanks for posting. It is really a supportive environment. I look forward to reaching our goal weights together!

Oh and good nutrition/calorie sites are calorieking and fitday!

Really people! You're all talking about Alli requiring 15 grams of fat or less per meal, exercise 4 to 6 times a week, etc... If people did all that without Alli, they'd loose substantial weight. Sounds to me like another hyped product that tells people what to do to loose weight and then claims their product had something to do with it.

I think that I agree with 'givemeabreak'. Come on people, if you limited your fat intake to <15grams a day and exercised for at least 30 minutes 4-5 times a week, you'd lose the weight! Period. And it wouldn't cost you $45 a bottle either.

However, I do know that some people need a placebo, someone to hold their hand and there is nothing wrong with that. Whether your support comes from a support group or a bottle, lose that weight any way you can!

Embarassed I meant to limit your fat intake to <15grams per meal. Laughing But 15 grams of fat per day with a little exercise would surely melt those pounds off as well...lol

PostPosted: Tue Jun 10, 2008 3:38 am    Post subject: alli combined with seattle sutton healty living food Reply with quote

So I decided to eat healty and start the whole alli thing. I got on the seatle sutton healthy eating program. I was on the food for a week and then Starting the second week of the food program, I started alli. I did not have any side effects what so ever for 2 weeks. Then one night my boyfrined got the new chicken shakers with sauce from arbys. I ate just 1. They are very small about the size of a chicken nuget the next day I had the oily discharge side effect that lasted a couple of days. I did not think that one small chicken thing could cause the side effect. Went back to my normal food and was fine. A week late I had another just 1 small arbys chicken shaker and again the side effect. Needless to say I won't be eating anythin like that again. Also on memorial day I ate barbecue food and I got horrible tummy pains and had number 3 all night. Not sure If my body wasn't used to all the bad food any more, but no more hamburgers for me either. So when I started alli, and my food diet I lost 6 pound the first week, 4 pounds the second week, 1 1/2 pounds the third week, the next 2 weeks a total of 1/2 a pound, and this week which is week 6 I lost 3 pounds for a total of 15 pounds in 6 weeks. I workd out only a total of 7 times for about a 1/2 hour the whole six weeks. I am very excited with the results of both seattle sutton and alli. I have just 22 more pound to reach my goal of 115. I'll keep you posted.

I never exercised and i didnt watch what I ate and at the end of 4 weeks I lost 13 pounds!!! I ran out of pills, and when I buy them again I will watch what I eat and exercise.. Can you imagine how much more I would lose If I do that?!?!
I did experience all the symptoms they said I would, but I will take them over not being able to lose weight. I have a thyroid problem(i would work out, eat right and gain weight) so losing weight is hard. Alli Helps SO SO MUCH!! If you do have a thyroid problem I recommend that you take your meds when you wake up and wait 3 to 4 hours before you take an Alli pill.

I LOVE ALLI!!!
