Perhaps I've missed this, so I apologize if I'm repeating...does anyone know about the pharmacy that's linked through phentermine.com? It's very expensive...350 dollars of so after shipping...but is it legit?

Do you honestly think the U.K. would APPROVE AND SELL this medication if it caused SEVERE DEPRESSION and SUICIDE? You must be an idiot. Sorry.. but think about what you are saying, Guest!
I guess Wikipedia, the FDA & the BBC are dumb and only Hazey is smart-
"Shortly after market introduction, press reports and independent studies suggest that side effects occur stronger and more commonly than shown by the manufacturer in their clinical studies. Reports of severe depression are frequent. This is deemed to result from the drug being active in the central nervous system, an area of human physiology so complex that drug effects are highly difficult to determine reliably.[5] The reported development of previously clinically silent multiple sclerosis in one patient taking Rimonabant suggests that any patients with an underlying neurological condition should not take Rimonabant, given the neuroprotective role of the endocannabinoid system in many experimental paradigms of neurological disease.
On 15 June 2007 the BBC News reported [6] that a committee advising the US FDA has voted not to recommend the drug's approval because of concerns over suicidality, depression and other related side effects associated with use of the drug"
Every prescription drug, every OTC drug and every herbal supplement has side effects. Each individual must weigh the seriousness of the side effects vs the benefit of the medication. Ideally, this is done with a doctor's or pharmacist's aid. One drug that may be perfectly safe on its own can be deadly in combination w/ other drugs and sometimes even with food. Grapefruit is the prime offender! It somehow can cause a build up the respective drug in your system, ie: an overdose.
This is the phentermine not the Acomplia/Rimonabant board so I won't go into great detail, but the numerous studies I've read (unfortunately not bookmarked on this PC since I'm at work) about Acomplia's efficacy as a weight loss aid note that results are VERY modest - perhaps a 5% loss of body weight over many months of use.
Also, there are many reasons why a drug cannot get FDA approval and risk of side effects is usually not the main reason. There are HUNDREDS of drugs on the market with FDA approval that have very serious side effects. It's just a matter of the pharmaceutical companies having very deep pockets and many lobbyists in Washington. European medicine, especially in Germany and Austria, is far more advanced than here in the States.
“pinkspatzi wrote:BTW, phentermine also acts on the CNS (Central Nervous System) just like Acomplia/Rimonabant...”
A great deal of substances act on the CNS, and there is a very broad spectrum of risk. For instance, the caffeine in coffee works on the CNS and is generally safe (as well as provides some health advantages beyond its stimulant effect).
On the other hand, Methamphetamine, the deadly illegal street drug, also works on the CNS, as does cocaine, etc. So, the facts that both phentermine and this new drug work on the CNS provides very little inight into how safe the drug is.
Im just asking this: If its so unsafe, why on earth would the UK go ahead and legalize it and approve it? It's a HUGE weight-loss drug in Europe and people are very happy there with it.
If it is so safe, then why would the US not? They are two different countries, with different standards and practices.

Yes, I know. The reason I mentioned that Phentermine acts on the CNS is because the previous poster said that Acomplia acts on the CNS as an argument for why it is dangerous. I was just pointing out that they both affect the central nervous system. I wasn't saying whether either or both were safe. However, Phentermine has been prescribed in the US for over 30 years. That's a lot of data to draw from...
Furthermore, methamphetamine and cocaine, while they do both work on the CNS, they affect a different part of the brain. They work on the dopamine receptors. Phentermine acts on serotonin and to a lesser degree on norepinephrine.

FDA got burned with Viox scandal... they want more data before aproval. You will see Acomplia/Zimulti in USA around 2009
Until then only EU has it.
