| Yes! What it does is regulate the body's blood sugar, so there are no spikes and drops. When you eat, your body needs to produce insulin to burn up the sugars in the food. When you don't eat for a while, your body shuts down producing insulin, and then when you eat there is a lag, and extra sugars are stored before the insulin can start burning up what is in the blood stream. By eating small meals several times a day, you make your body keep producing the insulin, therefore maintaining good blood sugar levels, and not storing excess sugars. When your blood sugars drop, you get hungry, and tired. When they spike you may also feel tired, making you want to eat something that will wake you up, like a soda or candy. Just make sure like they say to eat good things. Snacks should include some protein and a small amount of carbs. If you follow a diet like a diabetic, this will help you maintain this type of eating. Just make sure if you want to lose weight that you excersise as well. There is no magic bullet! |

| I've heard that eating six meals a day is good for you as it keeps your energy levels up and you're never starving yourself. Although I think three of those meals are larger and the other three are smaller. |

I eat 6 meals a day
here's how I do it...
Breakfast - all bran with cup of lowfat Milk
snack - 1/2 cup cottage cheese (lowfat)
Lunch - can of tuna (in water not oil, I also eat chicken turkey and salmon this way)
snack - Cheese stick or piece of fruit
Dinner - usually a pretty good dinner 4oz if fish or chicken 6 oz of a steamed veggie and 2oz (cooked) of pasta with butter buds
snack - raw veggies or a couple triscits with hot salsa
Works really well for me,, I still work out 3 to 5 times a week but i am never hungry anymore not like before and I have very few cravings. |

Eating 6 meals a day is definitely a good thing to do. In a nut shell, it basically speeds up your metabolism because you are constantly feeding it every 2-3 hrs. You won't ever be starving and you will stay full longer.
3 are actually larger meals and 3 are smaller snacks
each meal you want some carbs, protein and a source of healthy fat (olive oil, flaxseed oil, fish oil, almonds, walnuts, coconut are all sources of healthy fat)
50 % lean protein, 30% healthy carb (think vegetables or raw fruits), and 20% healthy fat
There are other splits you can do on your plate, but this seems to work pretty well. Hope that this helps.
I wrote up a pretty good 7 day article that talks about that stuff

Six meals a day is the best way to go because of your metabolism. What happens is that your body needs energy to go just like a car. If you put too much food in your tank then your metabolism will store it for future use, or FAT. Then if you need energy your body will burn FAT. If you do not eat and then just go hungry your body thinks it is starving and then protects itself and will save the fat for future use and burn MUSCLE.
By eating you are allowing your METABOLISM to burn fat instead of muscle. Imagine that......You have to eat to lose weight....Just make it small "meals" throughout the deal with healthy snacks thrown in. Apples, cheese stick, raisins, yogurt....the list goes on and on and on.
The days of thinking you have to be hungry on a diet are over!!!

The 6 meals per day thing was developed and used mainly by bodybuilders back in the day. It was adopted by the main populace and is popular to this day. Heck, I even do it myself.
However, there is new data that suggests 6 meals per day may not be as beneficial as originally though. I won't bore everybody with a bunch of medical data, but you can medline it and read it yourself.
