No i have not tried it and i keep begging by hubby to get it for me, i want it to bad. He thinks its stupid and i think it looks like fun and i know ill get a workout from it. i may just have to break down and get it myself. Whenever i see it at places like enchanted castle and chucky cheese, there is a line out the door for it and the people doing it look like they are having a ball. i want one so bad lol

take care

I'm glad you posted about this. My son has the dance dance revolution and it's a lot of fun and you do get a work out.

Check out this site for some great ideas.

But can you still win the game?

"Win the game?" Well, you get a satisfying ding when you hit your target calorie burn, which is no more or less exciting than "winning" a normal game. It doesn't unlock new items or grade you in workout mode, though. In such, it's actually a nice way to practice difficult songs while still getting something measurable done.

In any case, the trick about DDR is that it is fun and engaging. However, keep in mind that anyone who picks it up needs to learn the game first on light mode, which only burns about seven to ten calories for fast songs. Once you get the hang of this easy mode of the game, you can use standard or, preferrably, "heavy" (advanced mode), which burn quite a lot of calories per go.

I use it for working out, obviously. It's kind of tough on the ankles, but probably less than running out on concrete, and it's a lot more fun. You can hit a target pulse and keep it there if you change songs fast enough.

This is definitely a fun game and work out. It is very tough on the ankles so I wouldn't recommend it to someone like me who has sensitive ankles that have been sprained several times. Oh, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who lives above the 1st floor in apartments either...:-p

Yes and it is supah fun! You can sort of win. lol You try to get a high ranking on the songs. I must emphasize to be careful while playing though...you forget what you're doing and get really into it. This is useful for losing weight...but can also be very detrimental. It is VERY hard on the joints, especially if they are already bad or if you are particularly overweight.

If you're careful, it's AWESOME!

Hey just saw this post with a random google search. Just wanted to let you all know that there is a really great community for people who are interested in loosing weight with ddr or other dancing games.

I'm a moderator there and have been a member for 4 years now. I've lost over 60 lbs and vouch for it as a healthy way to help you loose weight. If anyone has any questions about the game...ie: what you need to buy to start, how to navigate through workout mode, general support, etc. I recommend checking it out.

Is there a DDR that is actually geared towards weight loss, and counts your calories? I always thought it was just a fun game to play with the added bonus of it being a good cardio workout?
