Hello BJ,
Have you spoken to your GP about it? Belive it or not, help is out there.
And quit that wanting to kill yourself nonsense. I won't hear of it, because you've made that first step - admitting you need to lose the weight, and because of that you will get there!
Yeh, I know, sounds like AA. lol, it took me years to come around to realise I had a serious problem. The final nail in the coffin came from my doctor who said I'd be diabetic before I was 30 if I didn't do anything (I was 23 at the time and 181lbs) and will lucky to see my 65th birthday.
Now since you've got quite a bit to lose, your doctor is your first port of call. Don't be embarressed! Doctors - esspecially the one's with good bed-side manners are very understanding and can offer many ways to approach the weight loss, whether it's referring you to a dietician, suggesting drugs (mine did a year ago and continued to do so, until I relented about 3 months ago) or just keeping tabs on you. And you're a guy - men lose weight far more easily than women!
The way I approached it was that the excess fat I had was an illness that needed to be battled, I acknowledged it was going to take a long time to "get better", but I will be cured of my so-called "illness".
This is me here: http://www.weight-loss-forums.com/about3875.html I was alot bigger than I was in that first pic, and I'm a bit lighter than I was in the second pic.
Losing weight isn't impossible, but you have to find something to drive you, to be your aim. Such as in my case, I break it up into 3 month periods, using my BMI as my goal. I.e. "by this date I want my BMI to be x". I also found keeping body health, rather than body image and the primary motivation alot more helpful. You no longer look at what you look like what you are on the outside, but concerned what's going on in the inside. With time the body form will change without you noticing it - instead other's will stand up and notice. It's a nice feeling. |

Here you go...
You should eat 5 times per day in smaller portions. Eating once per day is telling your body to slow down your metabolism and deposit all the food into "reserves" - fat cells.
Divide your meals into 5 smaller portions per day! |

It's true, the biggest mistake people make when trying to lose weight is skip breakfast. I noticed once I started eating breakfast everyday, the weight loss got a bit easier. On that note, your really shouldn't be losing more than 1-2lbs a week. The slower you lose it, the harder it is for your body to put it back on.
Also what do you eat? Do you snack at all? What about soft drinks?
I noticed in another post someone said to dance to MJ. DO IT! Dancing is a great way to burn calories, put your favourite tracks on, shut the curtains, put on some trackies and dance like no-one's watching in your lounge room!
(I do when no-one's about, but I'm into my heavy metal, can't dance for shyte - so I just yell and jump around like an idiot. hehe). But it means getting your heart rate up a bit, gets you sweating a little and you're doing something you find fun. I used to watch MJ clips when I was a little girl, I remember me and my cousin would fall on the floor and lay around from being too tired trying to copy MJ's dance moves. |

fresh vegetables (as many colours as possible, do avoid white potatoes, there's nothing nutritous about them), crunch salads, lean meat, fish, brown rice. avoid sugar or too much salt. Don't fry anything - stir-fry instead. Invest in a decent wok, it'll help. Grill food! Grilling is an excellent way to cook. Avoid ready-meals - they're full of salt.
Cheese is almost all fat, so is butter, keep bread intake to a minimum, and when you do it it, get brown or wholemeal - avoid pastries and junk like crisps, soda, chocolate and "protein bars". Drink skim milk for calcium and put sweetner in your coffee.
DRINK WATER! And you must eat breakfast - it's the most important meal of the day. Like the saying goes, Breakfast for a King, Lunch for Prince, Dinner for a Pauper. If you're hungry, drink water - you could just be thristy. If you're still hungry and it's between meals, eat something healthy like fruit. |
