Keeping myself honest on the journey to a new me |

Hi,
my name is Susan. I am 38 and a mom of 2 girls aged 7 and 4. I am 5 feet and weigh 163 currently. I picked the moniker Minus50 because I want to lose about 50 pounds. I weighed 179 after I had my daughter 4 years ago and managed to drop to 163 fairly quickly but then I got stuck. I know what my problem is...I eat too much food for my height . I have got to control that somehow and after a lot of thought I have decided to try Phentermine to help me in that area.
163 may not sound like much weight but for a short small boned woman like myself the extra 50+ pounds I am carrying are not good at all. Not just for the way I look but also healthwise. My knees are killing me, as is my back. My blood pressure is on the higher side of normal. I have a diabetes history in my family. I am also raising two girls and I want to model a healthy way of living. I HAVE GOT TO DO SOMETHING FOR MY HEALTH.
Last August, I found an exercise program I adore. Jazzercise!! Does anyone here do it? I have tried joining gyms and buying tapes for use at home but all in vain. I love going to Jazzercise. They even provide child care at some of their classes so there really isn't any excuse for me not to go. I've been going 3 times a week and that has helped me maintain my weight and not gain but if I want to lose more weight I need to go more often. My goal starting Monday is to go 5 times a week or more. That coupled with eating better and less should help me drop the weight.
Wish me luck |

Day 1 update....
So far so good. I took my phen at about 7:00am and had breakfast an hour later. I can't believe how much it suppressed my appetite! The true test of it's strength was at night when I am usually on the prowl for snacks. I had no problem saying no tonight. It also helps that I cleaned out all the junk food but in the past I have been known to get in the car and drive to the store to feed my habit . Nothing like that happened tonight so I consider it a success!
I am going to try and weigh myself just once a week so I don't obsess too much about that. I'm also trying to prepare myself for a modest loss, if any, this week as my period is here
Till next time..... |

It is now 3 days since I started and so far so good.
I weighed in this morning at 161! A 2 pound loss woohoo!!! It's probably only water but after years of seeing the scale number go up or not change at all, I'll take it.
The biggest change has been the lack of hunger at night. I was eating dinner and then snacking right up till I went to bad. The last 2 days I have had dinner and been satisfied till breakfast the next morning. I love it.
I have always known what are the right foods to eat and for the most part I was eating fairly healthy foods...whole grains, vegetables and fruits. My big problem was always portion control. If you eat too much food, even if it is the right food, you will gain weight! That has been such a revelation for me.
I have also worked out for an hour each day by going to my Jazzercise class. It includes both cardio and strength training.
Taking Phen is really making my mouth dry but it's making me drink lots of water so I can't complain. I also had a little trouble falling asleep but I took some melatonin and that took care of that. |
