finding the most filling foods |
|
|
| I was hoping to find people interested in posting ideas/suggestions for the most filling foods they have found. I have a couple that get me through when i think i might starve! Weight Control oatmeal is only 160 calories and has tons of fiber, tastes good and keeps me full for quite a while. There is also a good vanilla protein powder they sell at costco that i mix with yogurt, fruit and ice. that is about 300 calories and keeps me full for several hours. other ideas? I really need help getting a grip on my hunger from about 3pm until dinner! |

I simply eat smaller meals but more often. When I was trying for three meals a day, I was eating about 2400 to 2800 calories per day. But by breaking it down to six meals a day, I eat about 1800 to 2000 calories, and yet seldom ever feel hungry - and this is along with intense training at the gym too. I eat a little more now, cause I decided I am going to bulk up so I need the extra calories. It is actually more challenging for me to eat more, ironically.
But if you want to eat three meals only, whole grains are a great choice. Leafy, green salads - yeah bland - but they do fill you up and perhaps have the lowest calorie density around. And they take a lot to digest.
Very lean meats can do the trick - like skinless chicken breasts or fish. Cook them in healthy oils - such as virgin olive oil - the fats will help you feel full longer, and the protein will digest slower. And many fish have the added benefit of essential fatty acids - which also help with weight loss. |

you can try quinoa |
|

I just discovered this last week. Pasta made from quinoa.
Quinoa is a grain that is made from protein, and not carbs. It has a lot of essential amino acids, fiber, phosphorous, magnesium and iron...plus it's gluten-free. This makes it an unusually complete food.
You can learn more about it at wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinoa
Now I'm looking for other products made from quinoa; e.g. quinoa bread, quinoa cereals, quinoa candy, quinoa soda |
