I took Alli and faithfully dieted for months. But I am sad to report that I never lost any weight. I weighed 158 and was 5'3" to start. Went to my doctor 2 weeks ago and weighed 159. I exercise about an hour each day, varying between walking, weights, bike riding, Pilates, and elliptical. I was already eating a low fat diet, so just thought the Alli would help me lose weight. Apparently not. Sigh.

But my real disappointment came when I got back my bloodwork. My cholesterol went from 181 to 241 while I was taking Alli. My LDL and triglycerides were both up quite a bit. HDL is 70, about what it was to start.

I found this alarming and my doctor and I decided to ditch the Alli. I am now on ZOCOR to try to battle the high cholesterol. I should also note that I have never had high cholesterol before.

Of course I can't say for sure that Alli caused this, but nothing else changed. I hardly ever eat meat and when I do, it is lean fish or chicken. I don't eat fast food, etc.

I will go back to the doctor in 2 months to have cholesterol rechecked and update you on my findings then.

Just curious if anyone else has noted this change, or if it is just a fluke with me.

I've never tried Alli, but Zetia, which is supposed to block fat in the colon (as distinguished from the liver), helped me at first. Inside a year, though, my cholesterol was only slightly lower than with no medication.

Considering that I'd cleaned up my meat habits during that period, it would seem that, over the long run, Zetia did . . nothing at all.

I was looking for as much as possible information about diet pills. I did not decide for Alli because of the side effects - gas with a greasy anal discharge, diarrhea or loose stools, frequent bowel movements,...but what I can really recommend is Proactol - 100% natural, without side effects, free from allergens, clinically proven,...help to reduce cholesterol levels. 180 day money back guarantee!

I am surprised that your Doctor didnt have you retest within a month. Do you know how many labs mix up or give incorrect results?
