Hi Everyone, My name is Tanya, and I have always battled with my weight. About 6 yrs ago I was put on medication for my blood pressure and told to lose weight. I went from 255 to 220. Since then I have pretty much stayed there, and not bounced more than 10 pounds either way. Though now I am 30, and there is NO reason for me to be on medication, let alone to look like I do. So yesterday I started to go to the gym and workout. I am amazed I did it, because I have been a member since last July and went 3 times since then. In my mind I think that everyone is looking at me and that is why I didn't want to go. Though at this time I could use all the the support I can get. Whether it is a diet tip, to tell me to keep going, it would be great. I don't really have family support other then them yelling at me, or my aunt telling me how I need a gastric bypass like her daughters got (though I am not exactly 100 pounds over), which really doesn't boost one's confidence. So here I am , and I hope to hear from someone soon!

Hi Tanya,
I wish you the best of luck as well. Just hang in there and you will succeed. You have already lost a considerable amount of weight and you should be proud of that. Here are a couple of sites that help track food intake, weight loss, exercise, and other important things. They are free and they have proven to be of much help to me. Once again good luck and please keep us posted.

Hey Tanya,
I know exactly how you feel!! I've had a gym membership for sooooo long and I went just a few times as well!! Same as you, I thought I was geing looked at so I got shy and never went. Instead I'd just eat and eat and eat cause that's what I would do when I got down on myself. Which is crazy cause I would eat cause I felt bad but I felt bad cause of all the shit I was eating!! A catch 22!!!
I've had battles with my weight for as long as I can remember and I constantly compared myself to my thin sisters.....Well, I'm 30 next year and I've finally decided to do something about it. I want to live a happy long life...a healthy life. I dont have kids but I do want kids, but I dont want to get pregnant when my body is in this state (I'm 280, 5ft 7)
I've been going to the gym since june and I love it. Its still hard for me to actually *get out of the house* to go, but once I'm driving there I'm fine.
I do an hour on the treadmil at a very low speed and low incline (but when I first started in june I could only do about 20 min!) and I feel great afterwards!!
The thing now with me is my eating. I do eat lots of fruits and veggies but I also eat junk food too. And I have to work on my portion control.
But I didnt gain it overnight and I wont lose it overnight. I give myself a year and will re-evaluate.
Just so you know, I'm totally here for you for support or if you need to vent or whatever it is. I'll help you. I know the boat you're in and it's nice to know that there are people out there going through the same thing.

Hi, I am proud of you for going to the gym, thats a great step!! All you have to do is keep going, don't care what others think and take it one day at a time. I am sure they aren't looking at you, and if they are they are thinking how great it is that your there. I have been the skinny girl at the gym before and seeing a bigger girl there thinking that is wonderful she's at the gym trying to lose weight, I didnt think anything else. I am now the chubby girl (about 30 lbs over weight) but I feel so uncomfortalbe with myself now. I can't say I know how you feel because I don't, but I know how I feel being as over weight as I am. All you need to do is continue to work out, and eat healthy, and you WILL see results. I should take my own advice! I would definitely try this before getting any surgery, you will feel a lot better about yourself, and be proud for doing it with out surgery. Good luck on your weight loss journy. I know you can do it!!! Keep us posted on your success!
