Hey everyone! I am totally brand new to these forums so I may be asking some dumb questions. I have been "trying" to diet and exercise for the past 2 years but it never sticks. I am looking to lose weight fast, but not unhealthily fast. I'm just wondering where I should search or where I should start. thanks!

So it seems not many people like to reply Sad I just need some help. I really dont know much about dieting. Do I need to burn more calories than I consume a day? Also what are some other good techniques. I am looking to get the weight off quick like I said before.

Hi Egungon,
While everyone's body is different, there are simple and effective ways you can jumpstart and maintain weight/inch loss. To keep it off, you have to be willing to make a commitment to change your lifestyle and eating habits. Although it seems hard to do at first, you will realize it gets easier and easier as time progresses. You will feel and look better which will make you want keep up the good work. Essentially, the keys to losing weight are eating less/right and moving more. The best way to start out is by keeping a (true) log of everything you eat and how much exercise you get every day. After a couple of days, you will start to see a pattern and then you will be able to make changes to your pattern that will help you acheive your goal. For example, if you see that you are eating out 3 times a day and getting no exercise, you will see where the problem lies. Make an effort to eat at home and toss out your "junk" food and replace it with "healthy" food such as fruits, vegetables, and proteins. Not only will you see a fast change in your body, but you will probably save some money. Make efforts to spread out your meals to around 5 times per day of smaller meals incorporating your new food choices. If you are drinking pop, switch to water or unsweetened tea, or even unsweetened white grapefruit juice (which is a fat burning catalyst). Lowering your sodium intake is also a HUGE step. Most of us add salt to our food without even tasting it first. You will probably find that your meal tastes just as good if not better unsalted. Start out med-fast paced walking everyday for 10 minutes. Increase that to 3 times a day or lengthening the time you walk. By incorporating these immediate measures, you are guaranteed to see a difference quickly. Well, I hope this helps you some, it sure did help me. Good Luck!

Actually I am pretty agile for my size and like to work out. I started going to the gym everyday. I also run at least 1.5 miles a day and maybe even up to 3. I also do about 200 sit ups and use a reclined bicycle fir about 20 minutes. My hardest part isn't going to the gym, its eating right and lightly. I am still young so I am always out late, partying, hanging out with friends. I try to snack on like apples and other fruits.

Do you drink a lot of alcohol? If you do, you will have to incorporate a lifestyle change. You will see a major difference by completely cutting out your alcohol intake or majorly reducing it. The fact that you get so much exercise shows that it is definitely in your diet, which you already know. Start out with a log of everything you eat, drink, and snack on throughout the day and evaluate it with your regular physician. Your doctor will be able to tell you where your strengths and weaknesses are and put together a diet made just for you. Also, for a one-time, nominal fee, you can see your local nutritionist for lifelong nutrition advisement and support. At any rate, definitely start with a log and make sure to include everything no matter how small. Good Luck, would love to hear how that goes!

Can you tell us a bit more about what exactly you want?

How much do you weight? What is your goal weight, and by when?

What is your gender and your age?

What would you say your typical daily diet consists of (post everything) ?

Are you planning to take any health supplements or diet pills?

Have you dieted before? If so, what did you do, and what were the results?

With these things answered, I can better help you with your question.

Try pre-loading your meals with veggies. By this I mean make sure you eat some green veggies before your actual meal. They will fill you up and add nutrients to your overall diet.
