Adipex? |
|
|
Hey everyone! I am on the ani-depressant effexor, but btweek august until now i have probly gained 40 pounds. My doctore prescribed me adipes (which I think is a phentermine), and at first I was too scared to try it, but as of lat I have been doing very well with keeping a moderate diet and exercising at least 4x a week.....
So does anyone have any insight into how this would possibly help me? I am a college student and live a fairly actice lifestyle....but I also drink occasionally--how would I deal with that using the drug and drinking?
Are there any special ways to take this drug, like one week one one week off I thought I heard someone memtion thtat. Also,, are you supposed to drink only water, is that something that really speeds up weight loss?
My goal for this will be to lose 20 lbs in a month... and after that keep taking the pill until I reach my goal weight od 120-125 for 5'5"
One more question....After you reach your goal weight, and you slowly wean off the drug, as long as you keep up your healthy eating and exercising will you likely keep the weight you lost off?
I thank you so much for your advice, I am eager to take off this weight I have gained (side note: i am also working with a psychologist to help me deal with my food and body image issues)
THank you again!,
Meggie

effexor and Phentermine |
|

Hi Meggie,
I am knew to the board aswell. I am also on Effexor 150mg, i have been on antidepressents for 6yrs now. I am no doctor but i have read the side-affects and withdrawal symptoms of Phentermine and being on Effexor has enough side-effects without adding to them. Especially ones likes anxiety, nervousness etc.
I am weaning myself off Effexor with the doctors help and plan to take reductil for a while just to shift the extra 3-4stone i have gained with Effexor.....
I do know the Xenical can be taken with Effexor and does not mess about with the serition levels in the brain......unlike other weight loss drugs it works on the bowel and not the brain........i am taking it at the moment.....the weight loss is too slow for me though and i have been wanting to come off the Effexor for a while now .............. When im off it and have a rest period i will then take the reductil.
My personal option is that one drug working to fix the brain should not to messed about with by adding another that may reverse the effects.........but then again im not a doctor...
I wish you all the best in whatever you chose to do, and hope that your depression lifts.............it is a terrible illness, boy do i know.
Look after yourself
Love

| the first dr. i went to gave me an rx for lexapro and she would not give me one for phentermine, so i went to someone else and she gave me the rx for phentermine 37.5 mg, and told me i could not take them both together. i took my rx to the local drug store and they also made it clear that the two rx, could not be taken together. so you might want to talk to your dr. about it just to be safe. (or call you local drug store). good luck to you. |
