I am turning 30 June 14th. I need to lose a good amount of weight before then. I have been watching myself the last month to see what makes me binge and go for all the bad food. When I am depressed, bored, etc. I go for the snacks, chocolate, candy, you name it. I would love to throw out all the junk food, it would be healthy for my kids too, but my husband needs the snacks and junk food cause he is trying to quit smoking. What do I do in this situation? How do I get enough willpower to say no to all the bad foods and yum yum yummy to fruits and veggies. I guess my answer is that if I want this bad enough which I do I just will have to stay away from the bad food. Any tips, help, friends to get me throuh my journey will be so much appreciated. I only have my hubby,my kids, and a few family members in my life. No friends which is a big bummer. That's one of the biggest things I'm depressed about.

short term goal 150 on March 9th
long term goal 120 on June 15th

I would love to go all the way down to 110. Ten yrs ago I was at 120 and was a little chubby then so I know 110 would probably be perfect. With exercise, strenght training, good eating habits, and will power I know I can do this. I need all the help I can get to get me going and to get through this. I looked through the before and after pics on this site and was just wowed. Holy Cow!!!! You guys did an awesome job, especially wonderwoman.

Wish me luck!!!! Here's to a healthy new me!! (drinking a glass of water) Laughing

Welcome to the forums Pumpkin.
I would not sat good bye to all the sweets at once. Try to go easy on them, instead of 2 pieces of chocolate just take one. Reduce them moderately.
Do you know that there are low calories and sugar free candies? They taste great. I eat Solano when I have the chance and they are really good.

Get rid of your regular "junk foods" and replace them with law cal ones. Check out http://www.lowcarbshopping.co.uk/default.asp

The best way to do it would be to not eat sweats at all but when you have to do it, you have to do it.

Good luck and keep us posted.

thanks for the info Light.
Thought I would do a weigh in since I have been doing pretty well the last few days. I also have been a little sick the last 2 days so that may be why I dropped so much since Thursday. Oh well, feels good seeing the # going down even though it may go back up for a little bit when I'm feeling better. My goal this week is to drink more water.

I'm checking in for a weigh in. I just may make my first goal of 10 lbs by March 9th. It's looking very promising. I have been exercising 5 days a week and am starting to feel great. I need to drink more water. That's is one of my goals before checking into this site again.

Join our weight loss challenges, they are great motivation. Yes drinking water is very important to weight loss. Be careful of sugar free candies, they can keep you addicted to the taste of sugar. Does your husband like any snacks that your not a big fan of? I know for me that I like icecream, but it's not one of my absolute favorites so people can eat it infront of me without me needing it, but pop on the other hand, if I see it I want it. Also try to keep your favorite fruits and veggies around and prepared. If you get over the fact that they are good for you, you may find that you prefer eating fresh strawberries (name your friut or veggie) over candy.

I haven't lost anything since my last post, but am beginning to work harder so by my next post I'll be at least 2 lbs lighter. So, I guess that is my little goal this week besides drinking more water.

Pumpkin, I know exactly how you're feeling. I just love junk food. Since having my first child, I love chocolate. Oh, and Lays limon chips. For awhile, I spent a lot of time searching for something sweet or salty to snack on. Especially when I was trying to control it. I'd try to not eat after 7pm, I'd think I was going to bed starving. I know it was all in my head. So, I quit trying to control myself so much.

First, I quit weighing myself. I hate the scale and my doctor's scale is totally off. It would add 8 pounds and then I didn't know what was what. I just go by the way my jeans fit. Second, I started taking a supplement (something I never thought I would do). It helps with those cravings so much. The kids will be eating those chips and I might take one or two but that's it. Just not feeling that need. Third, drink lots of water. I have it delivered now so we always have plenty. Just have to remember to drink it. I think I'll go get some now. Very Happy

You can do it!

I hate to see people stuggle to lose weight...I lost 20lbs in a month and have kept it off for a year. Diets don't work...if they did, why would there be more than one? You need to cleanse the toxins from everyday life out of your system.

Good luck!
