Question about HIIT !

I wanted to start doing Hight Intensity Interval Training for my cardio. My question is , would it be overkill to do 20-25 of HIIT on the treadmill and then an additional 20 minutes of fast walking at say about 3.6 ? I usually do 45-50 minutes of fast walking with fast jogging on the treadmill but it really isn't HIIT. I'm looking for the best results, but is that too much?
Thanks .

Hi, it isn't too much, per say. It just isn't necessary.
The top two physical activities giving us the greatest fat burn are resistance training and HIIT. If you have the extra time to devote to your workouts it would definitely be best spent in these two areas.
Long, slow cardio is absolutely pointless when it comes to fat loss.
Try adding some bodyweight exercises to your workout for about 20-30 minutes, then doing 15-20 minutes HIIT.
