This may seem like an odd question, but I work at a car wash over summer, and I simply wonder if anyone would have an idea as to how many calories I can expect to lose when working.

Now, this job is pretty physically active. I usually work 40 hours a week, about 6-7 hours for 6 days a week. In a regular day I pretty much wipe down cars or powerwash them. This may not seem like too much but we are usually very busy (except rainy days), and you have to wipe cars down fast, and I usually average about 1 car in 45 seconds, we'll say about 30 cars an hour (some days more, some less, it just depends). So I'm goin around these cars, flailing both arms about, pretty fast. Sounds ridiculous and silly, but tips pay well and it seems like good exercise.

I'm a 21 year old male, weigh 207 (I always lose weight over summer, and I've worked here for 4 summers) and I'm 5'8". I'm just curious if anyone could take an educated guess, cause I'm trying to lose weight (I was up to 230 this February). I'm asking because I'm doing a program and I am supposed to keep track of calories taken in and approximate calories burned (I do a walk/run session for 40 minutes 3 days a week called Couch - 5k).

So ya, any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help!

a great job for losing weight. Concentrate while you are working on adding some extra moves in. i.e SQUAT while wiping down the lower areas of the car. Use your legs as much as possible. Flex your arm muscles while washing. There is allot you can do to boost the calorie burn.
