You have probably heard it a million times before – in order to lose weight, you need to combine a healthy diet with exercise. If you did a search on the Internet, you would find many people that are saying this but many of them do not explain very well why this is so.

Let’s review why nutrition is the fundamental to physical performance. Below I will outline to you how a healthy and nutritious diet is related to exercise and how combining both means that you will be able to more effectively lose weight.

Protein helps with muscle building and regeneration- A healthy and nutritious diet is one that is high in protein. Protein is important because it helps with muscle growth and regeneration. This is important because it helps ensure that you don’t get injured after exercise. A high protein diet can also help build your muscles and if you increase your muscle mass then you can actually lose weight faster.

Carbohydrates help increase energy- Carbohydrates are also important for health and nutrition. Carbohydrates increase your energy production, which means that you can do cardiovascular exercise for longer. If you can do cardiovascular exercise for longer then you will get fitter faster. This can only be good for your health.

Exercise helps burn calories- The basic premise of exercise and losing weight is to make sure that you burn more calories in your day than you ingest each day. Exercise is important because it is through exercise that you burn more calories and hence lose weight. You need to lift weights and do cardiovascular exercise routines as part of your weekly exercise.

The purpose of this article was to show you how health and nutrition are related to exercise. You need to burn more calories than you eat but you also need a healthy diet to give you the energy you need and also to ensure that your muscles grow and you do not get injured. Nutrition is all you’ll ever need to get the body you want.

Good fundamental article EZCURE. If our muscles and bones are the nuts and bolts of our body then good nutrition is the carpenters glue. One without the other generally doesn't work so well.
Sound nutrition helps with repair, recovery and immune function too, all helping to keep you active, fit and healthy.

Good article - nicely said.  As we age other factors start affecting our ability to lose weight - we don't lose it like we used to when we were younger.  Carbohydrates aren't absorbed as efficiently, our metabolic rates degrade, our hormone levels decrease, our serotonin levels impact weight loss, insulin sensitivity and leptin sensitivity impact weight loss, lipase inhibition is also a factor along with cortisol from stress and a few other factors.  It's not a simple calories in and calories out equation as we get older.

Really good article!  I've been looking for foods or a nutrition supplement that is high in protein, low in fat and carbs, but cannot seem to find these.  Any suggestions?  The "protein" bars over the counter are high in calories and I am not that impressed by the amount of protein in them.  The best foods I've found so far is fish, but I cant eat fish all the time!  Thanks!

I am on the high protein diet and I eat the Proti products from Bariatrix Nutrition.  I love them, especially the snacks cause they doen't have all the extra calories and stuff in them like you buy at the normal store.  I buy all my food at bariatricsfood.com.

Their prices are pretty good, but if any one knows where I can buy them cheaper, please let me know.  Any money I can save, being a single mom, is greatly appreciated.  Thanks
