Has anyone tried the HCG diet and, if so, what were your results? I really want to lose 40-50 pounds and ordered some diet pills that should arrive next week. Just wondering if HCG could help instead or help with maintenance. PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS AND EXPERIENCES WITH US FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL!

Haven't tried it but must admit I've been intriged and am not ruling it out.   I saw a clip of a couple on the Mike and Juliet show that lost a lot of weight on it, and they presented both sides of the issue with a doc saying it doesn't work and them saying it does.  Then I emailed the couple and they encouraged me to do it, but they did not try to sell me anything.  I have heard of the Simmeons protocol since I was a child.  It sounds very weird, but I am not ready to dismiss it just yet.  Right now, I'm coasting along very well on my MX phen, and have finally gotten on the losing weight wagon again.  I just am not sure I can keep acquiring this fabulous "Reducap" so that worries me somewhat.  I too, would love to hear if anyone here has used HCG.

I wonder of how much and if it actually works? There is a clinic in my town and I'm debating whether to make the call for the free consultation.

I don't know but if you run a search on mike and juliet show simmeons protocol and or hcg shots - some terms like that - you can watch a clip of this couple - I felt more skeptical going in but when it was over I couldn't help wondering...if it could work?

me too, Tots! That couple is pretty convincing! The only thing is that the shots are done as part of a weight loss program that includes a 500 calorie a day diet restriction (or so I thought I heard them saying. When I was playing it back on my computer it was really grainy and kept freezing up)
Is that right? 500 calories a day? (I AM SERIOUSLY ASKING A QUESTION AND NOT TRYING TO BE SARCASTIC, LOL)

It is definitely 500 calories a day, but the physiology behind it is fascinating.  From what i understand, and I'm no expert, the idea is based on the ability of HCG to release fat from fat cells. It can be taken in the form of daily shots OR drops under the tongue. The two dosing methods allegedly work equally well and CLEARLY the sublingual method is superior if that is true.

Apparently HCG is nature's way of making sure embryos don't starve during a famine.  When a pregnant woman's calorie intake goes below a certain point (apparently 500 calories), the HCG in her system causes her fat to release into her bloodstream just like if she had eaten a fatty heavy meal.  Thus, she has calories and energy in her bloodstream to feed the baby, even if she has not eaten anything herself.  An added benefit is that HCG preferentially burns fat and NOT muscle, and it is supposed to reshape the body by redistributing fat as well. So, it supposedly gives you a better, not just thinner, body.

This makes sense to me because when I was pregnant with my daughter, I had morning sickness for the first 3 months and did not feel hungry AT ALL!  I did not want to eat ANYTHING and I had to force myself to eat for the baby.  Even so, I lost about 15 pounds (I started at 160 and went down to 140-45), but my doc did not seem worried.  He said I could lose 10 percent of my body weight and it would not hurt the baby.

Maybe this HCG is a better way to lose weight naturally (and legally). The 500 calories seemed crazy to me at first, but I think the low calories shocks your system (with the help of the HCG) into releasing fat into the bloodstream to be used as energy like food.

They say you lose approximately 1 pound per day because the conversion of fat to usable energy/nutrients in the blood stream is very inefficient and wastes a lot of the calories.  So, presumably you eat the 500 calories and then get another 1500 or so from the pound of fat you burn in one day (the pound of fat is 2500 calories, so you lose 1000 calories in the conversion).

Maybe I'm just gullible, but this makes a WHOLE lot of sense to me and I'm very tempted to try it.  But I would LOVE to hear from someone who already has and says it worked for them AND that they were not hungry!  (sorry for the long post!)

@pironna it really is intriguing!!!
but it looks really complicated as well. i was looking up the instructions and apparently you have to mix extremely exact numbers of the hcg and sterile water and what not.

It does seem very complicated, but manageable if you're willing to put the time in. Two things about it bother me...

First, I read that after awhile, it becomes ineffective b/c (like phen) the body develops a tolerance to it.

Second, the injections are better than the oral route but...the daily injections are IM meaning they must be given into a muscle, like B12 or the flu shot. That requires a strong stomach and a high tolerance for pain! The needle is 1.5 - 3 inches long and hurts like hell b/c it goes in so deep. It's not like insulin injections that are given with a 0.5" needle just under the skin. I've been a nurse for 18 years and I don't think I could give myself the shots. I took depoprovera in the past and my mom had to do it for me (and that was only every 3 months).

Anyway...just my 2 cents!

Thank you, Jessiegirl!  THAT part, I didn't know.  Ugh.

I definitely could not go the IM route with a needle that big, even with someone doing it for me. I absolutely HATE getting shots and I think it would be way to much for me to handle.

I didn't realize the shots were so deep.  Yuck! I would only consider doing it with the oral drops.  Jessiegirl, do you know how effective the oral HCG is?  Is it pretty close to the shots or just not worth doing?

I also didn't realize that you had to mix anything. I thought the oral drops were sold in the proper strength for administration under the tongue 15 drops at a time. Might be a couple of times a day though. I noticed that they sell it on ebay.

so i've been reading up on it quite a bit. drugdelivery.ca is where you can order it as well as the mixing kit from hcgprotocol.com
i also dl-ed the pounds and inches book from hcgdietinfo.com and it's pretty interesting.
there are two different "courses" 23 days or 40 days. the first 2 days when you do the shot, you're supposed to load on calories. the idea is restore your body's "normal fat". after the 3rd day, apparently you start to lose your your appetite which is why they say the 500 cal diet shouldn't be a prob.
important things to note - you can't do the shot when you're on your period, if do "plateau" after the first two weeks, you're supposed to up your caloric intake, after you stop the hcq protocol, you have to keep the 500 cal diet up...
the whole process seems intense, but yet it also seems like it's worked for a lot of people.
there's a support group on yahoo groups too about it, which is where i was able to receive a lot of answers to any questions i had.

I am currently taking a combination of Phen and HCG injections.  The shots are once a week and applied to the stomach area.  However, they do not need to be put into a muscle nor is the needle big at all.  You can barely even feel it when it's inserted.
From what my doctor said, the injections are supposed to help lose inches and the phen helps you lose the actual weight.
