Hi, Newbie here! |
|
|
Hi, I am new to Reductil. My name is Maria and I have nearly 4 stone to lose.
I am on my second day of reductil and I am feeling a little bit drunk. It's like a spaced out feeling. I also have a slight headache, is this normal.
I consider myself a bit of a compulsive overeater as I never get full and I just eat constantly without realising how much I am eating most of the time.
I only took my first tablet yesterday but already I do not want to eat, I have just eaten my first meal since, of which I left half!
I have tried nearly every diet and pill there is. I stopped taking Xenical recently as it gave me really bad tummy pains. Even that didn't work so I'm not feeling very optimistic. I'm not sure if I haven't eaten due to the pills or just because I've convinced myself they are working (Does that make sense).
Anyway I would love to hear any of your experiences, good or bad!
Maria |

Hi,
Yes, the tablets were prescribed by my doctor. I have terrible knee problems and also suffer with back problems both of which my specialist advised weight loss (don't they always!!).
I walk and occasionally slim. I haven't really had a diet plan since starting as i haven't wanted to eat anything.
First weigh in, in 2 weeks.
Will keep you posted. |

| Try to get a healthy eating plan underway while your still taking the pills otherwise when you stop taking them (doctors normally take them away after 3 months) you will gain everything back because you have not learned how to do it on your own. |

Yes,
Start preparing yourself for the time you will quit Meridia. Learn how to maintain yourself afterwards... |

hiya, I had the slightly drunken feeling too, but once your body becomes used to the change it goes away. I've been on reductil for 4 weeks now and don't get any sideeffects except dry mouth and occasional headache (which goes away once I drink a bit of water).
Give it a week or so and see how you go. Any problems, see your GP straight away. |

Meridia safe? |
|
|
I've been following the forums for a while now, but this is my first posting so hello to all!
I've been pouring over the forums looking for something that is safe to use and actually works. I've looked into alli (which seems relatively safe), Lipovox, and a few others, but Meridia seems the most promising.
The only thing that scares me is this, taken from Wikipedia:
Safety concerns
Studies are ongoing into reports of sudden death, heart failure, renal failure and gastrointestinal problems. Despite a petition by Ralph Nader-founded NGO Public Citizen,[5] the FDA made no attempts to withdraw the drug, but was part of a Senate hearing in 2005.[6] Similarly, Dr. David Graham, FDA "whistleblower", testified before a Senate Finance Committee hearing that sibutramine may be more dangerous than the conditions it is used for.[7]
A large randomized-controlled study with over 9000 patients (SCOUT) is currently ongoing to examine whether or not sibutramine reduces the risk for cardiovascular complications in people at high risk for heart disease.[8]
I want to lose weight but I don't want to drop dead for it...so maybe paranoid people shouldn't try diet pills in the first place |
