I am new to this thread and im from western australia. I have been taking prescribed reductil 15mg for about 6 wks now though i have only lost 3kgs. the only side effect i had was something tasting different so change in tast but that has disappeared. I have noticed i don't eat as much and when i do i don't need as much to feel full. I haven't started exercised though so that is prob the reason it hasn't worked as well. i am hoping it will start working better soon as it's not cheap. I checked it out online but i found some stores were dearer than the chemist or with postage = the same anyway
I will keep you all posted.
For those with success on it what did you do combined with reductil for the end result.

Sugar,
Do not mind the scale. You had lost fat and gained muscles. Happens to lots of people, just ignore it at this point.

I do not know much about Meridia. Its very possible to speed up your metabolism. There are also some things that can help you with that.

Eat 5-6 meals per day. Small portions. It seems strange but this will turn on your metabolism.
Do any kind of exercising, walk, jog, swim...

Reductil does not speed up your metabolism..it keeps it up at the smae rate as normal... normally when you reduce your calories you metabolism also reduces, therefore slows down weight loss.

Hope that makes sense Rolling Eyes

Am sooo glad to have found this forum.
Cdn with about 85lbs to loose. Went to a new DR a month ago and she automatically prescribed Meridia when we started to discuss weight. Have always been "big" however last 3 yrs have put on another 20kgs, and is starting to affect my quality of life. I have been trying to find info on Meridia before filling the prescription. I have reg blood pressure, and exercise 2-3X per week, but life is hectic and portion control is an issue at times. Besides dry mouth, has anyone else had severe side affects? And how bad is the insomnia?

does anyone know a reputable on line pharmacy from which to order meridia? how does one know whether they are sending real meds and not sugar pill made to look like meridia? btw, i've asked doc for rx, but my bmi is only 29 (5'9"-170 lbs) so they won't prescribe.

Any pharmacy that illeagly sells Meridia is not reputable. Why don't you try a diet pill that you don't need a perscription for?

My story: I had started using Reductil 4 years ago and stayed on it for about a year. I was 159 lbs to start with (and I'm 5'2"), and I lost 30 lbs. My doctor prescribed it because I'm considered to have a high risk of diabetes. I exercised 5 times a week minimum, and followed a low-carb diet. I was very motivated to lose weight, and Reductil helped me achieve what had seemed impossible for years before. The side effects were, dry mouth(I had to drink about 3 litres of water everyday), frequent washroom visits, upset stomach, diarrhea, and unexplainable pain in my kidneys(doctors couldn't figure out the reason and the pain went away as soon as I stopped the medication).I also experienced an increase in libido. I maintained a healthy weight for two years, then the pounds started to creep up again. I tried to go on Reductil once more, but I didn't see any results, just discomfort. After going through months of weight gain and tiredness, I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid. Now I'm on synthetic thyroid hormone, and my thyroid levels seem to be OK. But I can't lose a pound no matter what I try. I have friends who swear by Hydroxycut, Trimspa and Lean+, but my doctor does not think I should go on those. But, obviously just diet and exercise combo doesn't do it for me. I'm considering going on Reductil again.

I started reductil on friday (1 June) when my doctor told me i was 90 kilos
now its only 4th of june and Im down to 87.5 i've been exercising (running/taebo) 2x a day and I realised that I cant eat as much as I used to. I've been having fruits and vegies and a half a cup of rice or pasta with tuna and vegies for the past few days and thats the result. I guess I'll just have to keep this up and see much better results soon.

sorry i forgot to include the side effects of reductil for me. I get thirsty so much and frequent visit to the loo is the most annoying part. I also sleep less now.

Hello all,

Just thought that I would let you know that I started Meridia 10 mg on Friday too. So far no side effects. I also have not lost any weight yet, but it is only day 3. I do notice that I have no appetite, and when I do get hungry I do not eat very much. Last night I had troubles sleeping, but I am not too tired today.

Just to give you a little background: My name is Stephanie, I live in Ontario in Canada. I have been overweight since I was 12 yrs old and at that point weighed 160 lbs. By the time I was 18 yrs old I hot 230 lbs. I lost weight with Ephedrine when it was legal here and managed to get back to 160 lbs by the age of 21 yrs old. I met my hubby then and gained 16 lbs in 2 years and got pregnant with our son. While pregnant I gained 30 lbs, I then used the south beach diet and lost 30 lbs bringing me back to 176 lbs the weight I was before I got pregnant. Unfortunately I am and have been stuck at 176 lbs for 2.5 years.

After a girlfriend started Meridia and lost over 20 lbs in 3 months I figured what do I have to lose and went to the Dr and asked for it.

Just so you all know after reading up on Meridia on their site I have learned that you should lose on average 1 lb per week. So for everyone who has lost more then that good for you. I hope that I lost about 30 lbs on Meridia. If I do not lose some weight in a month I am going to ask my Dr to put me on the 15 mg tabs. I prey this works, I counted 11 pairs of pants that are too small for me in my closet today...and it is sad because they are 1 size too small. I just want to fit into my clothes and not be uncomfortable because I am bulging out of them.

Well Good luck to all on Meridia

Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,

I started on Reductil 10 mg last Monday. I am also following Weight Watcher plan and have started on Pilates. The first week I lost 2.2 kilo (4.8 lbs).

Keep going on, I find out the worse is to give up.

You will loose if you eat less than you body need, it is so simple and still so difficult also. I know how difficult it is:(

I have gain and gain weight slowly the last 10 years and have had so difficult to stop eating. But it is over now, this is my Life Change.

I'm new, too. Started on 12th June, it's 17th June today and I've lost 5lbs so far.

I'm drinking loads of water! It helps the dry mouth.

Good luck to us all!
