alli (lower case) is an amazing new slimming tablet that is selling like crazy.
This drug is a lower strength Xenical. This is the only pill in town if you want to lose weight. So the manufacturers claim....

They also claim no need for exercise or a change in diet - which is naive at best, completely false at worst.

What they do not tell you is that you will have to take several changes of underwear everywhere you go for the duration of the course. You will have to become extremely knowledgable of the wherouts of the local lavatories whenever you are out and about.

There is nothing truly remarkable about this tablet. It is just another fat blocker.

This message is in response to Anthony's post. alli does not claim that you do not have to change your diet. They give several booklets about eating healthy and taking in less fat calories. Additionally, the side effects will not happen if you stay at 15g of fat per meal. I have been using it without any problems. Evil or Very Mad [/b]

i was on xenical when i was younger and my experience with THAT was interesting..you're told to watch your fat intake because it will anally come out as it digests...or doesnt..i never watched what i ate, so i was on the toilet all of the time. it wasnt a regular bowel movement though, the substance was an orange oily type. i DID have to bring panties with me wherever i went just in case and had an accident once while on it. alas, i lost weight some how.

if alli is anything like that, being older and more aware of what to do NOW, i think it would work out well if watching the 15g intake.

im also trying to find out more information though before i spend the money.

I am going on alli next week. I will post in a few weeks and let you know.

I saw a post from Antony. His post was inaccurate. They DO tell you you need to eat a low-fat diet, and exercise. Also...they tell you about the risks of eating a diet with too much fat.

Read all of the info before starting. I am going to do more research this weekend which is how I found this forum.

Good luck to all, and hopefully we will all see some positive results.

Please keep us informed if you try it. GSK is spending big bucks promoting this pill.
Thanx.

I will definitely post the results of alli. I am planning on trying it for 10 days to see if my body will tolerate it.

Three of us at work are going to split a bottle of 90 pills. That will give us each, at least, a 10 day supply.
We are going to start the low fat diet prior to starting alli, in an effort to minimize the negative side effects.

If we like it, we will buy the book.

I will be in touch

I'm on day 5 of the Alli program. I thoroughly read all of the booklets that came with the starter pack ($63 for the starter pack with 120 caps at Costco) and it clearly states that to lose the weight and for Alli to be successful you must do your part - keep to your calorie count per day as well as the stated fat grams per day / per meal.

So far so good - I purchased a digital food scale, found a good calorie counter online, have been keeping a daily food journal with calorie counts and fat gram counts and taking Alli at each of my 3 meals. I have had ZERO "treatment effects" (ie oily discharge, etc.) Actually, the thought of that happening is keeping me on track.

I think the best thing for me with Alli so far is the fact that if I don't stick to eating well and exercise that I'm going to pay for it in ways that scare the doo-doo out of me (har har) and I just don't want to go there. ew

My husband is also doing this with me - the great part with him is that he has been sleeping in our recliner for almost a year now with nightly heartburn and taking zantac (too much meat and high fat foods) and for the past 4 nights he has had zero heartburn - yes!

I've been doing the typical struggle with weight for years now and I'm not looking to Alli to be my savior - actually I don't really care if I don't lose 1 additional pound due to the pill - the fact that my sticking to a set calorie amount, fat amount and exercise with be just what I need to lose the weight. I just don't want those nasty effects =)

Cheers!

i am taking alli. i have been taking it for a little over a week now. at first i was dissapointed. i saw no results. i actually gained weight within the first few days. i was pissed!
2 days ago i started noticing a loss. i've lost 4 lbs now. i have no treatments effects at all. but i've also been following a very low fat/calorie diet. i dont exercise much, so this is all the pill.
i'v heard the good, the bad, and the ugly about this pill, but i like it. i took phentermine for 3 months and it was the only thing that worked for me. i guess i can add alli to my list. i think it's worth a try.

I am all for diet pills especially FDA approved ones but as I listen / read the reviews it makes me wonder if the pill does anything b/c it seems you are following a low fat diet regardless which will with out a doubt make you loose weight , so what is the purpose of taking the pill at that point???

I have been on Alli for a couple of weeks now and have had no real side effects. There has only been one time when I ate a fattening meal and it made me really bloated. But, some gingerale took care of that. So far, haven't noticed a whole lot of weight loss. But, they say it possibly takes 6 months for 10 pounds. So, I guess thats around 2 pounds per month. Still like the fact that it doesn't make my heart skip a beat or cause nervousness like other pills I have taken.

i have been doing the weight watchers program off/on for 3 years. with my 4th attempt, i found that it is getting old... i needed something else to jump start me. With only weight watchers, i have lost 5lbs in 4 weeks. I started taking the alli pills a week ago, along with keeping up with my weight watchers plan. At this time, my main concern is watching the fat intake... not necessarily counting my "points" or getting in all of my dairy products...etc. Within 4 days of doing this (NO exercise included) I have already lost 4.5lbs. I have NOT had any "accidents" nor have i carried extra panties in my purse. My stomach feels fine, no bloating or gas pains. I have had the "oily" poop only once this week... and when i have to go i make sure i go. The sheer knowledge that eating more than 15 g of fat in a sitting will make you shit yourself is enough for me to not want to go there. I think the alli pills are awesome.
