I am a 29 yr. old female, desperately trying to lose weight. I am sick and tired of yo-yo diets. I have just gained 20 pounds in 2 weeks (It took me a month to lose it). I am excited about joining this forum, because you all can relate (I think my friends are sick of my weight loss infatuation). Hopefully, Meridia will help me lose the weight. If anyone has any words of advice, PLEASE reply!!!! |

I'm amazed at you gaining so quickly! Is it mainly water weight?
Since to gain 20lbs in two weeks, you would have to have an calorific intake of 7,000 calories a day! When on average for women the body only needs 1,700 - 2,000 calories in order to maintain weight.
That amount of food is massive! Did you have your thyroid checked and anything else that could contribute to your weight gain? Because I severely doubt you ate 13 Big Macs every day. Just asking, because if it's an outside cause and not the amount you eat, Meridia may not work for you.
As for advice - the best thing for it is to try and eat as nutritiously as possible, take a multi-vitamin as back up and try and get 30 minutes worth of cardio in 4-5 times a week. Avoid junk, since Meridia cuts out appetite the body is going to need minerals and vitamins more than ever since calorific intake is reduced - try and make each one count.
Strangely enough I approached my weight loss with health in mind, not what I looked like. I took it on like a personal project that needed to be babied all the way, seeing the exccess fat as something like a disease and decided to tackle it in order to "cure" myself. It gives me a whole new outlook, even my heart is healthier (my pulse rate is slower - i.e. my heart doesn't have to work as hard). The fact my body is changing too is a plus. |

| Definitely sounds like you could be hypothyroid. Check it out ASAP - if you have untreated hypo you will pile on the pounds and they are very hard to get off. Best to stop the weight gain before it starts. Good luck! |
