Those last few pounds.... |

As we all know... It's the holiday season and people usually tend to slip on their "diets", unless you are one of those naturally skinny people who doesn't have to worry about that (other wise you probably not be a part of this forum).
I'm a junior in high school and I'm in a bit of a "slumage" at the moment as I would like to call it. I usually do tend fall into bad habits around this time of year, but this year seems to be worse. Not in the sense that I have gained a ton of weight, but that I'm stressed. This year is super important in deciding my future after high school and I just feel pressure from all ends. School, Basketball, the play, my club, and some of my other extra ciriculars. Now, I even find my self stressing about loosing weight which is deffinately not helping either.
I am not over weight, I know that. But I do struggle with my weight. Last year around this time, I was an average 6 pounds lighter than I am now. But then again, last year I had reached a new high with my weight obesession and was weighing myself 2-3 times everyday. Not a huge difference, but I notice. I have always struggled with my weight, however. When I was little, I was endanger of becoming obese, but then I was sent to fitness camp. I have gone the past 7 years and I have lost around 50 pounds in myheight to weight ratio.
I worry that I will be fat again. I just want to control my weight. I want to be able to maintain my weight no matter what time of year it is. I know there will be times when I will eat more or days I might not be able to exercise... but I don't want to gain and loose so much weight. try to maintain a fluxuation of 3 pounds.
But most importantly, I want to reach a size where I am happy with myself. I exercise all the time... at least 5 days a week... But I eat way too much. I know that there are people who have a significantly larger problem than I do, but I aswell am in need of help
Does anyone have any advice for me?
I would love to know what you have to say.
I've tried alot of things, but everything that I have tried has not exactly worked for me
thank you! |

Portion control is hard at any time of year, but christmas is one of the worst. A couple of things that help me:
1) pre-portion your food for the week...this makes it quick and easy to have healthy meals and snacks.
2) fill up on low calorie foods like veggies and plain popcorn.
3) whenever you are hungry try having a drink of water or green tea before you eat.
4) do what it is you have to do before you eat instead of after...folding laundry...
5) think about what you are eating vs. your fitness goals everytime you eat
6) if you gotta have a treat choose the least evil ones....For me we have doughnuts every thursday at work...I've switched to a glazed chocholate one instead of a oreo cream filled one. Or going to babysit I brought a fruit tray instead of the chips and dip I wanted. |
