Hi Everyone,
I am so serious about loosing wt, mainly for health reasons, and after gaining 50lbs in 2yrs, my doctor finally suggested Meridia since my bp was high, my cholestoral was high, problems with water retention, joint pain, foot pain, knee pain, you name it. So I'm doing some research on this medication since she said I would loose an average of 4lbs a month, but from the forum, it seems to be closer to 10lbs a month. I was hoping to hear more on those of you who have been on this 2-6months, and let us know how much you lost each month,,,, I want some incentive, to see that it really works. I took my first pill about noon, and its 7pm now and I have not had the slightest urge to eat. I did read that you loose the max wt in 6months then continue as a maintenance to keep your weight off, for those who have been on this medication, is that true? Any troopers out there who have been on this for a while, please let the rest of know how it went for you, how much did you loose and how long, or your monthly progress. I will continue to post my progress. By the way, I weighted in at 200.02 lbs at the drs office today. and at 5'6,, my bmi is at 32, or was it 36? will check again for next post.

Thanks!

I used meridia after the birth of my first child. Its natural for you not to have the urge to eat. I went from 165lbs. to 125 lbs. in less than 6 months. So yes you get your monies worth. Smile

That is great! I hope I get the same results as you did! I am geeked! I just started mine 4 days ago and went to the nurses office at work and weighed in at 190! I was shocked at the scale,, and after lunch! Thats 5-10lbs down from 200 just 4 days ago.. I am giving the different scales some room for error. But they do have the same type scales, those T scales. I have watched what I eat tho I have not been very hungry. I've drank alot of hot green tea, 5-6 cups a day/nite, 2 or 3 lipton diet green tea and propel, and at least 4 12oz glasses of water... and making trips to the bathroom every hour. Im not a big water fan, so I drink it all at lunch. one glass first, then eat, then half way, another glass, eat more, another glass, finish my veggies and have my last glass. I can feel that I lost alot of my water weight because I have been having issues retaining fluids for over a yr now (and I have been on water pills for the past year and never got this result) and for the first time in a very long time, my ring moves easily and I can just feel that swollen feeling disappear . I am really motivated now that I see results with Meridia. I was hoping for 10 lbs a month, but in a week? I have to go to my drs office on Monday so I will know exactly then. By the way, I have not gotton any side effects from Meridia, I did not even expect to loose water weiight, but I guess that has to go first right? I did start to feel a bit queezy this morning, but I drank my diet green tea and it went away. By the way, for those of you worried about meridia and high blood pressure, I have had problems controlling that as well, my doctor told me that meridia may make it go up one or two, but nothing compared to the progress I will make if I can loose this weight.

Hey there Gordi
I too am about to embark on the reductil journey. I have spent the last few weeks reading and researching as much as I can about this topic. It is a little frightening reading the negative comments and the side affects that it can have but I have been inspired by yours and others contributions. I am keen to hear how you are progressing and will share my trials and tribulations as I go. Thanks for the inspiration, I have really appreciated yours and others open and honest comments!
Cheers
Ray (I am a 40 year old female despite the male spelling of my name, my mother must have wanted a boy!!)

I really hope that ppl will continue to post their results here. I will be asking my dr. for meridia when I see him next week. I dont know if he will prescribe it. I go to the VA and I know that they have this medication. I am also type 2 diabetic and I have heard that meridia is helpful for my condition.

Hi! I started Meridia six days ago. I am 20 yrs old and 211 lbs, I am 5'10. I have noticed a bit of dry mouth, but I haven't been drinking much water. Probably only a glass or two a day. I am on 10 mgs right now, but will probably be on 15 at the end of this month. (I had to wait for the higher dose until I switched antidepressants.) I weighed two days ago and I was down 4 lbs. I hope it continues. My birthday is March 5 and I really want to be 190 by then... but I know that's some SERIOUS weightloss in such a short time.

Any tips/pointers let me know!! Some people say they lost 15 lbs the first month... but then they never type anything else. I want to know about people who take it for 3-6 months. I want to lose 70 lbs, think I can with this stuff? I have started walking every-other day for an hour to an hour and a half. I also watch what I eat, but as a college student it can be tricky!

I know not for all ... but for me Meridia is working GREAT! So far a total of 20lbs in 4 weeks.

I recently started to exercise some since my weightloss started to taper. WELL, once I did that, the weightloss started right up again! I have exercise on demand channel and do fat burning exercises that are only maybe 10 or 20 mins tops. So far I've done it twice in a week and I bowl once a week in a league too (yes that burns calories!).

I've begun month 2 and hopefully will get this last 15 off. I have my fingers crossed!!

Good luck!

That is great, Sweet. I am hoping to get prescribed Meridia next wed. I will begin taking insulin that day. I know that a lot of my diabetic problem comes from over eating. Meridia has shown to be helpful for diabetics.

Thanks for posting. I check this site daily. Let us know of your progress.

Well, how is everyone doing?

I went to the dr. yesterday but didnt mention Meridia as my liver enzymes were elevated. Dr. put me on insulin and took me off my oral diabetes med. He thinks that is what was causing the enzyme prob. Now I have to eat regular meals at prescribed times. I usually eat what I want, when I want. Maybe I will lose some weight, I dont know. I come to this thread everyday...interested to see how this medication is working for ppl.

Hey There!

I started taking Meridia March 14th. I went to my Dr. the day before and told him that although I am not obese and may not seem overweight to him, that I would like to be prescribed a weight loss pill. I told him about my healthy eating habits (pesce vegetarian for 20 years) and excersice routine ( 1-2 hours of activity a day) and my resistance to lose the last 10 pounds of pregnancy weight. He was reluctant to prescribe, but I told him I was going to get on diet pills regardless and that I though it would be more responsible if I as under his care. So he prescribed me Meridia. I am super excited. So far here is what I have experienced:
Day 1: normal eating habits, but so excited about the diet aid, I skipped having bread with dinner. But, I did notice I felt a little tipsy after my second glass of wine...which normally wouldnt happen.

Day 2: Have not gotten hungry yet today (it is 1:00) I did decided to have 1/2 a slice of whole weat bagel smeared with Laughing Cow Light swiss cheese spread.. very good.

So that is my start. If anyone wants to communicate about their experiences I would love to hear. I have read almost every forum on the net about Meridia...so...I am up to date, I think.

Hi all, I just started Meridia 15mg and I am hopeful! I am 6'0 tall and have climbed to 345.2lbs!!! When I got married 10 years ago I weighed 240 so I have gained over a 100lbs. Crying or Very sad I have borderline high pressure now and they have me on HCTZ water pill. So far so good...yesterday during dinner I ate half of the serving! I did feel satisfied. Side effects: a bit of dry mouth and heartburn which I am not sure if it is related to Meridia Question I will try to update my weight loss here...
