| I was quite hesitant to use them as well...I only took one, and thought I better leave them alone. |

Sankofa,
Did you have any side effects from the one day you took the pill? |

Hello - I've been taking Monaslim for two weeks and have had no results at all despite eating carefully.
Side effects = first day I felt sick straight afterwards but only lasted 10 mins; now really, really thirsty & dehydrated - is this the drugs?
My appetite is still the same, as is my weight.
Anyone else had a similar experience with this? |

| I ordered Acomplia last summer in desperation--a complete waste of time. They didn't do anything at all. For those of you that think they may be helping you, I say "placebo effect". Save your money for something that really works! |

...Don't think they work... |

Queenbluebee,
I had no side effects at all from taking one pill...
I never ventured to take any more. Unfortunately I spent my money, and I have a pack of pills which will collect dust, because I don't believe that they will work...Thus far, I've been losing weight the old fashion way since Jan. 1...diet and exercise, and have gone down one full size, and lost twelve pounds. Not rapid, but more effective than the pills have been.

Hey, I don't mean to scare you guys about Rimonabant but I did a little research regarding the pill and found some rather scary statistics.......
"...it can be theorized that Rimonabant promotes the development of neurodegenerative diseases of the central nervous system such as Multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson's disease, and Huntington's disease in persons who are susceptible..." This statement is from wikipedia.
Anyway, that being said, has anyone found anything that works like Phentermine?? |

sorry I never updated anyone on my experience with monaslim....they had a slight appetite suppressing affect ( but nothing in comparison to meridia or phen )
I actually felt like they made me slightly depressed and irritable ( but that might have been because I was eating less )
I probably wouldn't try them again. |

Thanks for the updates! I do not think I will take the pills...I'll have to take a monetary lose on them. |

I took acomplia for 18 months June 06 -Nov 07. In the first 8 months i gradually lost 24kg (52lb) and then plateaued for the next 6 months.
While i did have some side effects - very occasional nausea especially after alcohol, some depressive (not suicidal) thoughts and increased irritability on occasion. The benefits completely outweighed the negatives. I used to have depressive thoughts anyway about being unable to lose weight! The noticeable effects were: no boredom snacking, able to focus on healthy diet and avoid junk food and gradual weight loss. Added bonuses were increased motivation to attend the gym, no cravings for alcohol or tobacco or chocolate.
I finished the course of acomplia as i had not changed weight in 6 months. After stopping i noticed a gradual increase in my weight, over four months i gained 6 kg (12lb), granted this included the holiday season.
I have now started monaslim, which from my limited research is a generically identical Indian drug, green and teardrop in shape. I have been taking this for 3 weeks now and have lost 2kg (4lb), the boredom snacking has again stopped and my motivation has returned. Side effects for me are again minimal, some increase in agitation and two bouts of mild nasuea (room spins). While it is still early days i can conclude that i have not put on any weight since i started monaslim and the side effects are similar to that of my experience of acomplia. I feel that they therefore are the same drug. As has been posted before there is a suggestion that as rimonabant blocks the cannabis receptors in the brain there is a theoretical link to MS or other central nervous system degenerative illnesses. However these theoretical links are based on the premise that cannabis is a successful treatment for MS and other illnesses, which has yet to be fully determined.
Having travelled in India in the past I am aware that while the chemists and laboratories may be world class, the infrastructure for transport is poor so post takes for ever! and unfortunatley can be corrupted if it assumed parcels are of value. I received my monaslim after four weeks (UK delivery).
These are my experiences and my opinions only. The reason for my post is that i understand the misery of being overweight and sense of failure brought by repeated unsuccessful diets. This one worked for me. |
