It looks to me like the easiest and cheapest way to get phentermine is to buy it at a local pharmacy. Online sources are just too much of a rip off. Of course the problem with that is to get a doctor to write a prescription. Doctors in my area are very closed minded about it, and don't think I'm overweight enough, so that approach is a tough one.

If I could find a local pill mill that would work, but I'm not sure how to go about that. It sounds like a real hassle.

So, do any of you know if there is a way to get a prescription written online? Perhaps some place for a fee will write a script an mail it to us?

Read a thread about Dr. B. Sounds like he is what you are looking for. Best of luck. Smile

Yeah Dr. B is the only online doc I have come across that does the whole direct script thing for weight loss medication, but right now you have to be in TX, LA, or OK, to get on his program Sad The other options are trying to find a list of docs in your area which if you are like me, there are none which really sucks.

There's one guy in northern Virginia, but his weight loss program is sooooo expensive. He gives you a free consultation and then to start the program it's like $500 and then he makes you show up there every other week and that's $150 a pop. And, you have to pay him out of pocket and hope insurance reimburses you. I don't know of anyone else in my area so I have to resort to online sources.

When I asked my family doctor for a prescription of phen, she told me to keep a food journal for two weeks and come back to see her after that. WTF? Obviously, I have no self-control if I am fat, right? She can eat the peanuts out my sh!t !!

kerls - where in virginia are you? I live in maryland and I went to gaithersburg to see Dr. Anchors. He was really great and not very expensive. I hope you all down in Virginia are ok after those horrible storms last night!! I know some tornados touched down there, and we had a tornado watch till 3 am, so I didnt get very good sleep.

I'm in North Stafford. The doctor's website that I checked out was in Woodbridge - uber expensive.

If Dr. Anchors is much less expensive, then it might be worth it to drive up to Gaithersburg for a consult. I drive to DC everyday to work so what's another 30 minutes?

My neighborhood was spared - the tornados were heading in our direction and then they started moving towards the east. A subdivision in South Stafford got hit - 50 to 60 homes were damaged - no fatalities, thank God! We had the same warning til 3 this morning - I didn't sleep much last night either, so needless to say, I am not bright eyed and bushy tailed right now.

I am glad to hear that everyone down there was for the most part ok. I stayed up all night because they kept saying that that storm with the tornado was coming right to my area and I was totally freaked. I saw the pictures from the damage down there!! Scary especially at night!!

Dr. Anchors was great!! The first visit was $140 and that included his book, and some other things, and he was so informative. He didnt see me and then rush me out. He talked to me about everything. I go back 6 weeks from that date for a recheck and I think its like $75. So I didnt think it was too bad, and I felt like at least I knew I was getting real phentermine since it was from a pharmacy near me.

Dr. Anchors sounds really reasonable! Does he take insurance? How many refills does he give you? And, he gives you the phen-pro combo, right? I'm going to give him a call on Monday to make an appointment.

He gave me 60 pills (of each) - oh yes he does phenpro. And depending on the person he uses either prozac or one of the other ones in his list. I think he may take insurance because he is also just a regular doctor. His card says "internal medicine, and bariatrics" So I think he does, but you have to ask them if your insurance covers it. But he was so great! And really nice, and actually pretty funny! I have really learned a lot from going to see him. I totally changed my eating habits. It was about an hour drive for me, maybe a little more, but since I grew up around gaithersburg I really didnt care, and it really was worth it to me. I think you will like him!

Oh one more thing... Did you know that Dr. Anchors is the one who created the phenpro combo? So if anyone knows its him! He has a website - just google his name.

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO so my insurance my cover him. Even if it doesn't, its still better than ordering it online. At least I know I am going to get the real thing and then as added insurance that the phen works, he prescribes prozac. I read his website last night and was impressed. I also checked out his discussion forum and he answers like just about everyone's questions. I really don't understand how he has time to do that and run a very busy practice but all I can think of is that he is just dedicated to the cause of helping folks overcome obesity. It's a shame that most doctors out there are not willing to prescribe phentermine but they are willing to prescribe medications such as Celebrex and Vioxx for arthritis which has been proven to kill people. I guess treating medical conditions that stem from being obese is more lucrative than helping the obese get to and maintain a healthy weight and lead healthy, long lives.

You know how everyone says that the effects of the phen doesn't last very long? I was reading Dr. Anchors' website and he says that phentermine alone loses its effectiveness at about the 6 week mark, and that is why he prescribes the Prozac or some other anti-depressant to keep it effective. And, if that doesn't work, then he suggests adding 5-HTP.

I'm pretty excited knowing that there is a real guy out there that is somewhat local enough for me to see who will give me a prescription for this stuff - this guy just gets obesity and that difficulties that we face in trying to lose weight. After reading some of the information on his site, I am looking forward to getting his book, too.

yea hes really informative, and he doesnt rush you out of the office. He talked to me for at least an hour - and explained why you have to take the prozac - so I am hoping that hes right and the zoloft I am taking really makes it last longer. I think it will, from all the people he has treated and the stuff I read. His book is really good too. Thats why I went there rather than buying online, I felt like at least I would know it was legit, and I would have someone to answer my questions or help me. You have to tell me what you think when you go!!

I will! I'll probably make an appointment later this month. I took Prozac for OCD back in '04 for about 6 months and I actually gained weight! I'm going to ask him about that and request Effexor. One of my former bosses takes that and she said that while on Effexor, she had no appetite. Not that she needed to lose weight - she could stand to eat a couple of cheeseburgers.
