Partner Diet! |

Well I'm new here, Name's Clive and just started thinking of the whole weight loss idea in general. I'm a pediatrician in Northern Maine, and Me and my Wife don't really get out much. She can't have children (another time) and our dog is getting old. So, for the hell of it, we went and bought a bowflex machine. Anyone else use one of these?
I am currently 6'1" and 204. But it's all in my stomach and thighs,
My wife is 5'4" and 258. She'd rather me not explain her problems?
We are looking to get to (respectively,) 190 for me, and 168-175 for her.
It's a challenge I've never thought of trying, because I really just didn't have the effort in me. But things have to change. We want to be beautiful people, not blubby hicks in the stick of Maine. (No offense to my fellow mainers, if any on here!)
Any insperation would be Great! Thanks and Hope for the best! |

What are your other reasons to lose weight? Besides the ole' desire to look "beautiful." Instead of doing this to simply look better, how bout you think of the other often unnoticed benefits to loosing weight. Lose weight to feel better and be healthier, to have more energy and strength, not just for the exterior physical benefits.
People will too often go into a diet with only the desire to look better, when in reality, it's the piece of mind you attain after completing your goals that is paramount. Buying a bowflex, to put it bluntly, won't help you lose weight without the drive and will.
Stop dreaming about loosing weight, what if questions flooding your mind. Don't make excuses to not exercise... everyone's looking for the magic pill that allows them to lose the most weight by doing the least work, when in reality, exercise and eating healthy is not easy. It's a sound, universal assessment to make that flawed humans will always struggle the first few times and lose. But they also lose the lesson along with the battle, and deviate from their goals.
What I suggest is that, you find a workout routine (I suggest bodyforlife.com) and stick to it. Change your outlook on life and don't half bake it. It will be a struggle, as with most things.
The fact that you're looking for inspiration should be noted. You won't find inspiration if you're not in the right place. And you'd be hard pressed to find it here. You want inspiration? Well, examine your life and be critical of yourself. What's holding you back besides yourself really? What is holding you back? WHAT?!?! Your job? Family?... no... you're the only thing holding yourself back. Take a better look at the big picture. You know you can do it if you really wanted to, but do you really want to? Or will you simply shrug things off like you have in the past. It's easy to turn a blind eye to things and accept things the way they are now... or maybe, just maybe.. you can look deep inside and find your own inspiration to get you through this struggle.
Sry if I came off as aloof or weird, I typed this up pretty fast. Anyways sir, good luck. Your wife is 5'4, 258 lbs. She probably needs more encouragement from you than anyone else. Change yourself for the better, and she will to. |
