Good Workout Videos/DVDs |
|
|
I was wondering if anyone has found an upbeat, non-step cardio video/DVDs. I am about 100 lbs overweight with bad knees and honestly do not like the "Sweating To The Oldies" stuff. It seems like everything out there is step or kickboxing.
I did a few months bought "The Firm" tapes and can't keep up with them as the step stuff has me falling over. I am just hoping for a basic (and maybe even fun) workout video/DVD.
I have the belly dancing series which is really cool and different, but I don't leave the tapes with a "true" sweat and I am not sure if they really work...other than being fun. |

| i actually think they should work, if nothing than moving your muscles a bit. i really love pilates, its easy to start. your heart rate dosen't really get up, but you see results. i like two by crunch fitness with Ellen. also i have another workout video that is really challenging called 'i want that body' it dosen't move to fast but it work you hard. jen |

I am really enjoying t-tapp and you sweat a bit in the begining but SO much more as you gain strength....and talk about sore.
The belly dancing sounds so FUN. I would also love to try the stripping one. I think if you could invest in a portable pole...now THAT would be fun. You would have to be strong to suspend yourself in midair like they do. Anyone tried it?? |

I got the belly dancing ones (they dont seem too hard but they do work) and the strip aerobics. I don't use either much because I like to do them in private and there is too many people living in my house, but they are both alot of fun.
I took a belly dancing class a few years ago and even though it didn't seem very hard it really made a difference in my abs (what I could feel though the flab)
I find the strip aerobics alot of fun, but it takes a little bit to learn the moves (but who doesn't want to be able to move like that, even if it's just in the bedroom) I plan on learning this and saving it for my honeymoon (so I have alot of time to learn seeing how I'm still single) |

| I absolutely LOVE turbo jam. It's a lot of fun and doesn't kill my knees like the firm, etc. It can be intense, or you can modify to your level. It is, however, a kickboxing workout. |

| I like The Biggest Loser workout DVD. It has a feature so you can make your own customizable workout. Stretch/warmup, low intensity cardio, high intensity cardio, strength and sculpt, bootcamp, and cooldown. there's so much to do you'll never get bored. it's a good workout too... the L.I. cardio is 25 minutes long and I start sweating within 5 minutes. you'll definitely be sore afterwards. the H.I. cardio has a lot of jumping around so beware if you have bad knees/back. and what i like about it is that REAL people from the show are doing the workouts, not skinny models, so you can see them struggling but not giving up. |

Also, if you haven't tried the "Walk Away the Pounds" series, that would be another GREAT one to add to your list in choices

I really trust the staff favorites at collagevideo.com. If they don't like it, I won't like it.
All of my exercise tapes are VHS and the kids broke the VHS player so I'm trying to build a DVD selection. This thread will be helpful. |

BTW,
I am thinking to get something cardio easy to do at home. Any recommendations would be great. |

| Denise Austin's "walk a mile indoor" is pretty easy, and she has different moderations. And the dvd has 3 levels I think. " Blast away the pounds" is a dance one she has too. It was alright, has some jumping, and tango moves in it. |
