For All You People Who Think You Must Starve to Lose Weight |
|
|
This info from Good Housekeeping's June 2006 Issue.
The 3-Hour Diet by Jorge Cruise
When you're dieting seriously, do you start skipping meals? If so, stop right now! You may find this surprising, but the best way to slim down is to eat more often. The key is timing: I've discovered that feeding your body every three hours can help you lose big.
Here's how it works: Whenever your meals are more than three hours apart, your body goes into a state of mini-famine and preserves the most calorie-rich part of your body-fat. But the body usually burns fat to get energy, so now it has to burn precious lean muscle instead. The end result: The jiggle stays, and your muscles go.
On my diet, you'll feed your body six times a day at three-hour intervals: breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, dessert. To kick-start your metabolism, be sure to eat breakfast within an hour of rising.
Afraid that you'll end up consuming more because you're eating so often? That couldn't be further from the truth. When you consistently feed your body, you keep blood sugar levels stable, which helps suppress your appetite.
I can email the rest of the article to anyone who is interested. There's also a one week meal plan included.

Guilty!
Could you please email me the article? saraheoreilly@yahoo.com
It's just hard because you want to take in less food daily to loose weight- some part of your brain tells you this is a good idea. But I guess I'm just shooting myself in the foot!
Thanks for the info! |

I hope you got the emails. Actually, this diet is harder than it looks. Just like any diet, you have to plan for it. I can't seem to remember to eat on a regular basis. Then, I'll eat junk because I realize I'm starving and need a quick fix. If you can eat as the article suggests, you should do great. Good Luck. |

Straving for Weight Loss! |
|
|
When your goal is weight loss "starving" is the absolute worst way to lose weight as it destroys your metabolism and make weight loss short term. Just a tip. Eat small meals frequently throughout the day to keep your metabolism high and burning fat. -Jared

I had always thought this to be true and it may be for alot but when I asked my doctor about this he said that "due to my age" it wasn't a good idea because the older you get the longer it takes to digest your meals....ok, I am only 39 years old. I didn't think I was THAT old
He's also suggested that I eliminate dinner all together and just have a large breakfast, a snack, lunch and then end with a small snack. |

starving |
|
|
| I enjoy some of the energy bars for when I get cravings or realize I waited too long to eat. Tricks me into thinking I'm getting junk food, but has lots of nutrients. I agree with the eating every few hours. I think that Dr. must be confused. If you only eat 200 calories or less it should not adversely affect you. I think it is the ammount you take in that should be considered, not how often. |

Eat more to lose weight true |

| Thanks for sharing this. It is so true that the body goes into starvation. I have been successful with keeping vegetables and lean protein with me for snacks every 3 hours between meals. |
